One witness told reporters gunmen had tried to find people with U.S. or British passports. Five-star Taj Mahal Hotel on fire; Military reportedly enters second hotel. Police confirm hostages at both hotels. Gunmen strike at series of targets popular with tourists and business people. Seventy-eight reported killed, head of state's anti-terror police dies in aftermath. http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/11/26/india.attacks/index.html This is just so shocking and sad. I never understand this. Makes me think things will never get better, only worse. Do you ever ask yourself why? What is the point?

I have heard only a little bit about this story. My opinion is, when we hear stories like this, we should always respond with reinforcing the idea of the war on terror and use the story as justification. That, of course, would play right into the hands of certain administrations which used terror as a way to scare us into doing what they wanted. However, with a new president on the horizon, I hope we can hope sanely for a more rational military response.

I know this happened a week ago bu I am just now getting to it in my email that is backlogged. It is scary to think that this is happening and that people aren't safe just because what their passports say. I do hope and pray that they will try to get this all fixed up neatly so that it won't happen again anytime soon so people won't be afraid to go anywhere anymore.
