A Snails Pace?

What is up tonight with myLot?
I am sitting here wanting to do some work on myLot and it seems it is the slowest I've ever seen it. Even slower than when I had dialup. I have DSL and when I went to respond and add a photo it took 2 minutes for the photo to upload then almost 3 minutes for the response etc to go through? Did myLot and it's servers take the Holiday off as well? Is your myLot page(s) loading very slowly?

this happened to me yesterday. I just couldn't upload a pic and also lost my long write ups twice for they wouldn't post! It feels terrible. I made sure to copy is before posting after that.
And even as we speak, the server is still HOLIDAYING. Today, more so, because of Thanksgiving, I guess.

It as been failry decent lately since posting this.
I have not been able to sleep either for some reason.
Off to my daughters in a couple hours too.

Maybe they started their Thanksgiving early and are too stuffed to move very fast. hahahaha Really though I have no idea, I was in bed asleep at that time. I hope it improved for you, it is working ok for me this morning but I haven't attached any pictures.

I have been on and off myLot all morening.
I couldn't sleep for some reason.
I got maybe 2 hours on and off sleep was it.
It's been great for me lately.
Leaving very soon for Minnies.

I guess you were anxious about your Thanksgiving dinner and couldn't sleep? hahaha Just wait, after you stuff yourself you will sleep very well, that is until bed time. hahahaha

I experience this sometimes myself, but it doesn't seem to occur at any specific timne of day or night so I am not sure if it is related to mylot activity overall slowing the site down or not. I do know that it is not my own connections or anything because all other sites are loading just fine. This morning pages were a little slow to load and the same thing is happening right this minute, but there has been a slight improvement from earlier though. Hopefully it will get back to normal speeds soon because it always seems to in the past.

Slowness on a site is usually due to server problems etc not the site themselves. I have said for ages that myLot needs a better server yet it seems the same. Especially on the weekends it gets terrible. I thought they went on vacation and had the server operating on battery power.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I keep losing my responses because it is
taking to long! I keep getting that Ooops Sorry! page. It's
been happening all night and I thought it was my computer!
I kept closing it and restarting it and it was still happening!
I wonder what's going on? Thank's for letting me know that
it wasn't my computer! I was going to give up! I was tired
of losing my responses and retyping them! Well I hope this
one doesn't get lost because I don't understand why at
3:30am it should be doing this! Most people in the US except
maybe for the Pacific Coast are asleep! Except maybe you and
me!lol

As you have explained it Opal, it sounds like the problem is with the server rather than with myLot actually. I am not having those problems except once it appeared my response had not gone though, so I did it again. Then on checking I saw that the same response is in twice, which is most anoying for everyone.
Here I was thinking that with Thanksgiving in the U.S., not to many from over your way would be online for at least today. Actually thought that maybe with less people posting things might go a little faster for me. Alas it seems that it is not going to be the case at all and I will have to plod along still going at my slow old pace. lol
I think you will find that it is early evening in the Philippines and it is just after 10.00 pm here in Australia. With people from this region posting at the present time, it will not be any faster than normal.

It is the servers issues not myLots I think.
I can't sleep and it's now 5 a.m. here and I am leaving to my daughters in 3 hours. I'll be napping on her floor I am sure before we eat.

It's the erver not the amount opf people on the site really.
Pogo loaded fine with a ton of people playing when this happened.
I went and played pogo for an hour then it was fast loading here.

Well I am on a dialup connection as that is all we can get where I live and it is always slow. However today it does seem to be slower than normal although I thought it was just my computer which was the prblem. Sorry that you are having problems with the speed as well Grandpa Bob but it does make me feel a bit better about the situation all the same, knowing that I am not the only one who is being affected by the lack of speed. lol
Earlier today it was so slow that I got offline and did a disc clean etc to see if I could improve the speed but unfortunately it did not help. I am finding that not only are the pages very slow to load but also it takes forever when I want to post a response. It can be extremely frustrating.
We can only hope that whatever the problem is that it is remedied soon and that the speed improves for all of us.

This was 6 hours ago the problem was happening to many here as far as it being slower to load than normal. It happens all too often especially on weekends and holidays for some reason. It has got to be the servers in my opinion. It is doing good now 5 hours after starting this discussion anyhow.

Yes you are right grandpa Bob! It IS very slow. It's taking forever to load and I'm on dialup hahahaha . I'm not sure what's wrong with mylot, my other websites are not taking as long. I know it's not my internet connection and I see other people have posted that it's going slow, too.

I had ialup for 18 years before getting DSL.
I had dialup for over 2 years here on myLot when I started and I did a lot of photo uploading. So you can imagine my frustration with this type of glitch back then. I feel for you I really do.

I noticed that too... the slowness is really killing me right now... since it is so boring here in the office... and i expected mylot to perk up my day... but i everytime i respond to a discussion... i end up waiting for a long time for the page to load...
I hope things will speed up a bit... maybe another change is going to happen here in mylot... and upgrade maybe...

Yeah I can't sleep right now and I am bored as well. SO I get here and the snails pace killed my fun. But it seems decent for now anyhow. I am not going to try and add any photos anywhere theough.

Mylot is ALWAYS slow for me. I blame it on my slow dial up connection, but I guess the problem could lie with Mylot itself something. Maybe there are too many users Mylotting around. :)

Nope, many others also stated they had problems.
It is a server issue I think more than myLot etc.

i think you're right.
i hadnt really noticed because i normally do myLot-ing between doing my officework, so i just leave the windows open, and come back to it.. as and when i am free.
but now you've mentioned it... i waited to see how long it takes to load post a response, or wait for the page to change.. it does take longer than usual..
like you said probably the myLot gang, or some of them, are away for the holidays? well,.. they are humans after all...

Same here. Glad you posted this, as I thought it was PC or my broadband connection that was at fault! I disconnected and turned off my pc about an hour ago in frustration, and have only now reconnected. It's still kind of slow and am thinking of just turning it off again.

I reste my DSL hookup and cleaned all my files then restarted my comp thinking it would help. But myLot was still slow. Then I did a speed check and my DSL was up to par. Other sites were fine. Now myLot seems to be doing okay again. This happens all too often. They need a better server I feel is all.

thats so true !!!! even i'm facing the same problem.. donno what's up with them?? i've been trying to post and start discussions but its taking longer than what i expected it to take.. lets say " its a snail's day today "

Yes unfortunately, I was having these same types of issues in here myself about 2 weeks ago, and was really wondering what was up. Sometimes I think this system has a Glitch for sure, and maybe more people are active in here at this time, and the site cannot handle the overload? Not really sure, but it can be quite annoying when this happens for sure.

With my DSL it usually takes a minute or so to add a photo and response total time. 
Just before I posted this discussion the same process took 5 or 6 minutes time. 
That sucked but it all seems better now anyhow.

yes it was terrible, so I just gave up, I have so many things to do at once on the net that I just can't just sit here and wait for any site that take that long to load up.

Well, it seems to be fine here when I'm working on myLot. Perhaps it's the Internet connection over your area which is slow? I do have slow connection speed at night, and thus loading myLot page is extremely slow... like snail pace? ^_^

Nope not my connection as I checked my speed and it's up to par.
It was just the myLot site that was slow.
Other sites loaded quickly for me.
Now it seems some what better right now here thoiugh.

Sounds ike your computer grandpa.. When mine gets that way, I have to call on my "Geek" son to speed it up for me.. There are programs that can be downloaded on your computer to help keep the "junk" off of it, but I am not sure which ones they are.. Don't know if it would be a help but can you do a defragment, and some computers come with other programs to help clean them up occasionally.. Hope you can get it fixed, because sometimes I have wanted to throw my computer through a window because it was so slow.. [B]~~HAPPY THANKSGIVING~~[/B]
