Thinking too much

Do you ever find that your brain is always in fast mode? Does your mind race from subject to subject? And does this affect the way you make decisions or not make them? (Yes, I realize to not make a decision is making a decision!) Sometimes with my mind racing like that I find new ways to express myself in my poetry, in new characters for novels, and even in the way I clean my house. When I'm thinking a lot I just do things and get them done. I don't dwell on the mundane. How about you guys? Any thoughts about that?

I don't think there really is such thing as thinking too much. There's always so much in this world that is going on around you and we're always processing the things that are going on around us. If we learn to revert to our subconscious self we can learn to relax and kind of accept everything that's going on around us and be able to focus on ourselves.

Thank you so much for responding. I "think" we don't think enough sometimes. We let others do it or we rely on technology! But I love to process and write down my thoughts! Thanks again!

I definitely respect that comment, I think it's great that we write down our thoughts and that we do rely to much on other people's ideas instead of our own. Originality is where it's at.

Oh yes! Been there! It is a failing? in our family that the brain is way ahead of the fingers and often ahead of the mouth! haha I always admire people who can talk quietly and sensibly on a subject in public. I thin I would spout just garble and drive everyone mad trying to work out exactly what on earth I was trying to say!

Hello, RitaGreen. I do not think slowly. However, I do not think fast either. I have a common speed of thinking. Not like slow... But relaxed thinking. It helps me to keep my patience and makes me remain calm even on the most difficult situations. I can value all the decisions I can take calmly before choosing one of them. I can wait for a long while without getting angry nor nervous. I can plan things and put ideas into action without having to rush and, therefore, I have higher chances of succeeding. Thinking fast might trouble everybody. Specially when they are speaking. They want to speak as fast as they think, and then nobody understands what they mean. They want to act fast as well, which isn't always possible. And when they can act as fast as they think, they usually mess it up on the hurry. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Yes I used to have a brain that was constantly working, thinking, never silent. I spent years trying all sorts of things to find some peace. I tried to stop my internal dialogue for years with only minimal success. The same with meditation my success was minimal but it helped a little. In the last year I have been puzzled to find my mind stilled many times. I will be just sitting and my mind will be quiet just like I used to want but it is quite eerie. In my case it was brought on my illness and I am not sure I like it but I am stuck with it for now. My mind has slowed down to a crawl like watching slow motion. I wonder if it will ever go back to normal again.

I can never shutdown my brain. I wish I could, but I always have to be doing something or thinking about something. It sometimes frustrates my boyfriend when he just wants to lay and do nothing together. I can't do that!

I think a lot. I am always thinking. I have a whole bunch of stuff that I would like to do, but sometimes just need to write them down and look at them later. I do this alot, especially at work when people aren't as quick on the draw as I am.

I hate it when I think a lot because the consequence is I have to decide as fast as I can. Fast decisions aren't always wise. I have so many decisions in life that made me act fast and regret later because my mind was too pre occupied.

well if ur doing jobs that need quick decisions that it is crucial. but in some cases u have to slow down. things like getting married and such. for me i will switch from fast and rapid to slow and mundane depending on the situation.

Well, i see nothing wrong with thinking but where i find not confortable is doing it for too much because it can depress you. Most times i think about things, some times solution to my problems and i can tell there isn't any solution anywhere other than the one thought out by your self. Thanks for sharing this with us.Merry chrismas.
