Your favorite holiday songs?

I know we've just passed Thanksgiving, and Christmas is still a month away but I'm curious - and looking to be put into a holiday spirit. What's your favorite holiday song, and why do you like it? It doesn't have to be a Christmas song - any holiday will do - and the why is an important part of the question. I'll even start us off:
My favorite holiday song of all time is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. I love the nostalgic look back at "the olden days, happy golden days of yore" and the hopeful look forward of "through the years we all will be together, if the fates allow". It never fails to make my eyes tear up, remembering holidays past and thinking forward to the many years to come.

mine are filipino carols and "all i want for christmas is you".
i didn't really have a favorite holiday song in english, until i heard that song on the movie, Love Actually. that is one film i really like and can watch over and over again.
hearing that song from the movie gives me warm feelings not just of the holiday but, more specially, the reason we have christmas and the celebration of the fact that love, actually, is all around. =)

My roommate in college once translated some Filipino carols for me and they were lovely. I love All I Want for Christmas is You, too - it's a great contemporary Christmas love song. Thanks for your response! What are your favorite Filipino carols?

Ang Pasko ay Sumapit and Sa Maybahay ang Aming Bati - those are standard caroling fare here, and are sure signs that Christmas is just around the corner. I also like Payapang Daigdig, it calms me and listening to it gives me a feeling that everything will be just fine. I have special memories of Heto na Naman because this was the song performed by my preschool class that one year when I tried teaching.

You know, one of my secret guilty pleasures is Wham's version of "Last Christmas". I wasn't listening to much pop music in the 80s and 90s, but that one really stuck with me. Thanks for joining in on the Christmas merriment!

I always loved the Chipmunks songs. I also love The Little Drummer Boy and Silent Night.

I love the story of the Little Drummer Boy, playing for the Baby Jesus as his gift to the newborn King. It was one of my favorite songs when I was growing up. And the tale behind Silent Night - the first Christmas carol known to have been written for guitar accompaniment because the church organ was broken. As for the Chipmunks - who doesn't love "I still want a Hoooola hoop!" My kids are adults and they still sing "Please Christmas don't be late..."

O Holy Night is definitely my favorite Christmas song. It is one of the beautiful songs ever and does a very good job of what the birth of Jesus means. My favorite holiday song... Dominick the Donkey. I can't stop laughing every time I hear it!
