How to reduce bitter taste in food?

Today i prepared spinch (palak paneer indian dish) for dinner.I never experienced this before.I always cook this dish but this is the 1st time it is tasting bitter.I want to reduce bitterness in it.I have heard to put sugar or lemon juice. I need an help from u to reduce bitter taste?

I have heard of sugar but never actually tried it with spinach. I use spinach with garlic,salt and milk.
