Starting Discussions vs. just posting responses

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but to make money here you really have to start discussions also. For a month I tried to do nothing but post and my earnings were very minimal. On Monday I posted several discussions and wow my earnings were great. It just seems to me that you have to start at least a few discussions a day along with responses in order to earn any real money. Have you noticed this?

It used to be you earned more from responding, but now it does seem like you have to at least start one discussion a day to benefit. I've been doing this since I became active again, and my earnings are up quite a bit. I think you are right. I also find that responding to certain discussions earns more than others.

Starting discussions is what drives this site. If you don't post a discussion every once in a while there will essentially be nothing to talk about :)

In my case, I always try to give my responses to all new discussions of my friends, as I receive the notifications in my email server. I give my responses directly from my inbox. Only if I can answer all of them that I always tried. The earnings remain slow for me so I also decided to start a discussion or two, each day...

Being new to this site, I'm not aware of this. I had thought posting a responses pays the same as starting a discussion. I had started two discussions and opted to post more responses. Reading this topic had made me aware though. For now, I'll have to settle for posting responses, but tomorrow I'll have to look for a good topic to start a discussion. I'll be wanting to earn real money too :0

I guess it depends on the number of people replying to your discussions. But it's good to start some discussions. Even though I don't have time to spend time here, I still have some earnings. I think it's from the responses to my discussions. I think if you keep on posting responses, you'll also earn quite a lot, depending on the number and quality of the posts. ^_^

Hi bailycows! I don't really know. Whenever I start discussions
I seem to make less money then when I just respond to others
discussions. When I do start discussions I respond to them
rate them and still I seem to spend so much time taking care
of them I don't get to respond to others discussions and I
tend to make less money. But, whatever works for you I guess
is the best way to do it. I have tried all different ways.
I still prefer to respond. I will try again to start some more
discussions and see what happens.

I've noticed this as well. O.o I'm really surprised by how much my earnings increase when I start a discussion. o_o I usually post a discussion or day or every two days because of lack of ideas, but I should probably start more. =P
This makes sense though. If we got as much money for responding to a discussion as we did in starting one, we would probably focus more on responding and wouldn't be as motivated to start more.
