that's just so boastful of you, SpikeTheLobster. i mean, unless your computer is not connected to the internet or you don't use a flash drive. there are new definitions of viruses everyday. lot of people try to revive old viruses and turn them into something better. so even if your av is updated, things could still end up bad. tell me, spike, have you not had a time when you windows did not boot? how can you fix that huh?

"The only solution"? Whoa, no way. Before doing something that drastic, run the AV and spyware killers. You only NEED to reformat a drive if the virus absolutely cannot be removed. I have never, ever had to reformat a drive because of a virus (in about 20 years of computer life).

Your antivirus I don't know why isn't it removing the viruses as it must. You can donwload avira from the net if you want. If you know the exact time his problem occured try to restore your PC to a previous date.It can be done through system tools in accessories. If not the only thing left will be to format your hard disk. You will need a Operating System disc for that like windows XP

vinit_1791, the first thing you want to consider is if you want to format your pc, to format a pc means to remove everything in it. including viruses but including your windows as well, although i recommend this method? if no, try nod32 antivirus system. install it, update it then run a scan. delete the viruses found. to double check, go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com, run a scan to see if there is any trace of virus. if you want to reformat, do this: 1. back up your file. every document you need, copy it to another storage media. burn it in a cd to be sure. 2. check if you still have a copy of all the license of the software you are using. the serial numbers of all. write it down and check if you still have the cd/installer of those software. 3. look for a tutorial on how to reformat. this is a serious stuff so pay attention to the tutorial and don't start doing it unless you finish reading the tutorial. *people stop saying stuffs you don't know, quit pretending just so you could write something here. atleast be helpful, by saying what you really do know

Use avast and perform bootscan or use malwarebytes. And another best option is to use kaspersky new version. It will remove all the viruses.

Hijack This is the most powerful software, when it comes to removing viruses, but you need to know what to remove and what not.

What's that Anti-virus you have in there? sounds like you have a spyware that claim to be anti-virus. You need to uninstall that because it doesn't know what it is doing on your system, is just consuming your hard drive space. I use Windows live onecare and i never have to worry about the security of my system because i know that it is secured even against some top threats on the net http://onecare.live.com
