Would you rather have a homemade gift or a store bought gift?? To me there is just something more special about a gift that was made over one that was bought at a store. A gift that was made takes more time and more thought. When its a store bought gift you just have to think of want you want to get the person, find a store that carries it, and goes and pick it up. But with a homemade gift, you have to figure out what you are going to make, buy the supplies, and put it together. It takes more time and energy. So which one do you like better...homemade or store bought??

It doesn't look like crap. Its awesome and i love it. Even if it did look like crap, which it doesn't and i do have to say you scarp book better then me, i would still love it because I mean enough to you for you to take the time to make it for me. Okay thats enough of the mushy stuff..LOL.

I prefer homemade gifts because the person put the time and effort into making it themselves. Like you said, it requires more care and thought. I don't mind store bought gifts either, because if they're something nice, the person must have put an effort into it as well (not into making it, but thinking of it). I don't usually receive homemade gifts because here it's not really customary. I don't think I've ever known anyone here who has made something for their friend or family actually. o_o I've never made a homemade gift for anyone, but I do try to make homemade cards. To me, there's a whole lot more personal than a store bought card anyone can buy that sends best wishes. I like making cards because it shows that I put an effort into making something on my own, even though it's not exactly as big as a gift. =P

I am a crafter, i crochet and do some needle work and if i can think of something great to make for someone i will. I also make alot of things that people buy and give as gifts. The first gift i gave my current best friend for christmas was a draw string bag i made for her. I have crocheted a blanket for my father and give it to him one year for christmas. My best friend also had me make her parents a blanket for christmas one time.

and my parents still use and love that blanket lol.. although my dad keeps calling it a leg warmer so i dunno if its the fact that its crocheted that confuses him or what but he thinks its better than a throw lol

I would want a store bought gift from someone who is not that good at making something. Now if the home made gift was a book case or a computer table, or something that I could use, a sweater, something I could wear, fine. But a lot of the homemade gifts are candies or cookies that I can finish off in a week or a month (considering I am diabetic and I can only have one cookie a way). I want quality, I am not the person who will see "ah how wonderful" if it is something that I cannot use or is not that great. So if you are able to make a bookcase, or some furniture, a ramp for the back door, of make a planter and include some herbs as well, fine. If not, get me my favorite DVds, tablecloth, etc.

My absolute favorite gifts are homemade ones. I have coupons that my kids made for me when they were younger for chores...that I never cashed in, handprints and paintings, too. I also have an empty babyfood jar filled with tiny, sparkly bits of paper inside. If you open it and look at them you will see that they are tiny smiley faces, stars, "I love you"'s, "kisses", "hugs"...all cut out by hand and placed in the jar by my best friend. She put a pretty ribbon around it and nothing else. This was a birthday gift from long ago and it still cheers me up every time I see it.

Those are awesome homemade gifts. Last year for christmas my best friend made me a scrapbook of pictures of us and things we had done together. I love it and none of my friends has ever done anything so sweet for me.

I would definitely not mind receiving either type. If there is something that I really want from a store, then I would prefer that item. If I really didn't mind anything, a homemade gift would be nice. Either way, a homemade gift would be more meaningful and thoughtful. I would appreciate it and treasure it rather than a store bought gift!

I really love it when my children make me things. I know it truly comes from the heart. Any man, woman and dog (well, not quite), can walk into a store and buy something but it takes a lot of love and imagination to make something with your own hands. Having said that, any gift is lovely. I'm a gracious receiver.

Its the thought that counts, so I dont really mind. There's this one time a good friend of mine asked me to come with him to buy a gift. Its for our exchange gift. He was really anxious in finding that one perfect gift. As it turns out, I was the one to get that gift. No element of surprise, but knowing his effort in finding that gift is really something.

For me it doesnt matter whether it was homemade or a ready-to-give kind of gift, what matters is that the thought that someone gave a gift.

i suppose a homemade gift is special its its own way but most people would pick store gifts because thats what it is all about these days with technology and stuff. i'd go for store bought gift because im not really into homemade stuff but i wouldnt moan if i got a homemade gift.

I like receiving gifts that are personalized or homemade. It means that the one that gave it to you take an extra time for your gift. Its just gave me more impression what special ocassions should be.

I prefer homemade gifts because there is more special. My aunt used to have a tradition that everyone in the house pick names and make that person a gift. Nobody knew who picked who untill christmas morning. She had a rule that materials could cost no more than $5. It was alot of fun.

I'd prefer the homemade gift. you'd feel very special because the person who gave the gift really put a personal touch on it. and your gift would be unique because there's no other item similar to that.

I will value homemade gift more than the shop. Homemade gift contain the hard work, love and passion of a person towards whom he or she is going to give the gift. I am not saying that the person who brought gift from shop is less loving and care but I must consider that the person who give u a home made gift, loves u very much so don't neglect its gift. So keep posting and happy mylotting
