Did you use a walker when you were a baby? Do you think you have used a walker when you were just starting to walking? If you have kids already, have you tried using walkers for them? as for my babies I never tried using walker for them. I have read somewhere that there is no scientific evidence that proves that walker can aide in kid's walking abilities. In fact some studies suggest that walker can hinder into the child learning how walk by himself They say that using a walker develops dependence to it and thus could lead tot he kid not getting used o balance for himself. Oh well I sorta believed it and never used one. Well my kid's walking development is kinda strange since my first born walks when he was 1 year and 2 months, so some will say it is lateand it is because I did not use any walker. But my second born son walks when he was 9 months, and he too did not use a walker. Another thing with walkers was it can lead to more accidents they say. So guys did you use one? or do you plan to use one on your kid?

I believe during my time, a wooden walker was used. I remember still seeing the walker when I was already old to know what a walker is. When it was my nephew's turn to have a walker, we bought this plastic and facny walker with wheels. It was fun seeing my nephew run after her baby aunt who was using walker too (and that was almost two years ago).

yea,i had one..only used it on the first floor though,it'd be dangerous otherwise. i don't think it did much for learning, but it gave me a nice place to sit when i was tired.i was known to fall asleep in my walker LOL

Hi ya pehpot I know my mother used one with me and my brothers as we have got photos of us sitting in them! My eldest son would only sit in it for 20 minutes a day and that was it. He wanted to get out and about by himself. My middle son loved the walker and would be in it all day. He also figured out that it was the quickest way to get away from his elder brother!! LOL . My youngest son liked it too but he started to walk around in it with his toes curled up and I was adviced to take him out of it and never to use it again or else he might start to walk like that. I did and he is fine!

I used one with my first daughter and she walks great. She started walking before she was 1. I am currently using one for my youngest daughter and she's already getting around pretty good in it. She has even already taken 2 steps holding my hands, she's 5 months old. As far as accidents, that's only if the parents aren't watching their children. If you are a responsible parent and don't leave an infant or toddler unattended, they'll be safe.

one thing I can say, I was not so much better provided in childhood. so rarely I would get so many things.I had no walker or that sort of. Rather i have seen my baby niece and nephew are having those. it helps as i guess.

I know that I have used it and I was walking since I was 11 months (unaided) my nephews used that and both walked before they turned 1. My son started to show sighns that he was ready so we put him in a walker at 7 months and he had no issues and started walking un aided before he turned 1 (I would sau about 11 months) and proper walking when he was 1 year and 1 week old). I am having a baby in April and that one will go in a walker as well. I notice that kids dont sit in there and drag fit they actually push the walker as they walk and its there for suport. My son loved it he used to run around the house in it and slept very good.

I can't remeber if I had a walker when I was young. Our four children had one each, the boys had cars to push along and the girls had pushchair like ones

I used a walker when I was still a little kid. I asked my mom before I responded in your discussion, hehehe . She told me that it was a wooden one, because at that time, there were no walkers made from plastic available. Although, she added that the one I used are those that were also used by my other 3 siblings. I am the youngest of 4 kids so I basically get to use what they have previously used. Anyway, my mom told me that I only used the walker for a short time because I was able to walk by my own in a short period of time. I don't know if I am going to use for my own kid.

I don't know if I use walker in my toddler years, But as far as I know walker can help the child when he starts to walks since his balancing is not yet well develop yet. There is a span of period to use this aid, until the child can walk on its own. ...As for the accidents in walker, that depends on who watching the baby.....

I have used it for my son when he had just started moving from one place to another catching onto the things in the room. He used to bring everything down while trying to stand and walk so I used to put him in the walker so that he doesn't bring everything doem to the floor.

I really don't remember if i used a walker when i was young... but maybe i did because my younger sibling used one... with my daughter... my mother bought her a walker as a gift... but she did not really like it that much... and she started walking by herself when she was like 15 months old... I think children develop differently and at their own pace... so being late in walking is not really something to be compared with other kids... their age...

I think i did use a walker when i was a baby.. Because i roughly remember myself playing with those toys/blocks attached to my walker.. lol =D ANd as there's a step from my hall to the kitchen, so i remember that my parents will always be putting something there to block the way, to prevent me from falling from there.. lol =D But i dun seem to have any accident from there, and i think most ple say babies learn walking from walker, is because of they learn how to stand and using their leg muscles.. hehe

Current doctors advise not to use walkers. They seem to be a danger: A baby walker is a device that can be used by infants who cannot walk on their own to move from one place to another. Most commonly, it has a base made of hard plastic sitting on top of wheels and a suspended fabric seat with two leg holes. A baby walker often has toys attached to the top to entertain the baby. It is designed for a child between 4 and 16 months. Many parents believe that such walkers teach a child to walk faster, however, studies suggest that it is not true. The devices have also led to many injuries. In fact, CPSC, American Academy of Pediatrics and other organizations have issued warnings to discourage parents from using baby walkers.

I used walkers with all 3 of my children and most of my family members used them too. Back in those days we did not know that they were not good for them. All my children were walking before they were a year old. It kept them quiet and on the go. They could follow me all over the house and they were satisfied. I didn't have a problem with them.
