If you got all the change out of your junk drawers how much would you have?

I have change in about 4 or 5 different drawers (junk) in my house, there are quarters everything, I think it's a good $10.00 total, there are even Pesos from our vacations. How about you? I'm just too lazy to go dig through everything. If my kids noticed the change, it would be gone.

Don't know but one of the casinos near here will change it into bills so we'll be taking it in there one of these days. More carefully. Last time we did that my husband put the $$ into his pocket with his casino card and he dropped it somewhere. :-(

Wow! That's a 'pretty penny'. Hmm, I'm starting to wonder how much I would really find, because to be honest, there are more than a few junk drawers in my house!

Yeah before i did this i just used to throw the change into drawers. Now I just use change jars. Once they are full they go to the bank.

My father use to always pay for everything with cash, he rarely used checks or credit cards. At the end of the year have gave my sister and I all his loose change for Christmas gifts, it always ended up being a couple hundred dollars. When I grew up, I use to go and clean his place for him (he was single)he would tell me I could keep all the money I found laying around and in his pants, he would have dollar bills and change ALL OVER THE PLACE, I always ended up with enough to take my family to our favorite mexican restaurant.

hi kamibob! well, honestly, we don't have much of those coins lying around because i make it a point to gather our coins and put them inside a coin bank. then i count them after a while and have them exchanged in our store for paper bills. then i would deposit the money for my baby's bank account. i really intend to start a bank account for my baby when he or she is born. so that is why i am starting now. :-) it is not much to start a savings account for young savers, just P500 or about 10$. so i have save p1,600 already or more than 30$. not bad from coins and other stuff huh? hehe take care and God bless you! :-)

That's awesome you are saving money for your baby! So many people just don't do that. Your responsible. Good Mom. The coins that have ended up in drawers around the house it usually what the kids have dropped or I find when I'm vacuuming. It's been a good few years since I've cleaned my junk drawers! maybe I should commit to cleaning on drawer a week and adding the change to the piggy-as opposed to sitting on mylot like I have almost all day between loads of laundry! :O

We have a container that everyone throws their change into so it isn't all over the house. We had a scarey insident with a coin once so I'm really careful with it. Anyway, the last time I rolled up the change in the container there was almost $200 in there.

My husband puts his change in a classic style piggy bank, every six months or so I dump it out and take it to 'coin star'; it is usually about $80.00 to $100.00. I will cash it in early to buy ink for my printer, that way it doesn't hurt so much, with the price of ink! It's amazing how it can add up!

I am sitting here chuckling to myself will reading your question. The reason I find it so amusing is that I already know the exact answer to that question. So here's the story... I very rarely carry cash as I am disabled and it is easier for me to use a debit card than to handle change. Just last week, I was expecting a delivery from the pharmacy, of which my total came to a whopping $4. Not exactly a down payment on a house. So, having money in the bank, but no cash I went on a change hunt of my own. I searched every drawer, shelf, nook and cranny that I could think of. After 20 minutes of searching my grand total in quarters was $3.00. I was more than half way to my goal of $4.00. Next, I found a few dimes and nickels. Sadly as I'm continuing to search and starting to worry that the delivery man is going to show up before I have $4.00, I realize that I'm going to have to unwrap coins that I've already rolled to take to the bank. Suddenly the doorbell rings. Darn! There he is.... Nope! It's my neighbor. The end result, my bills are paid I have money in the bank and I had to borrow a dollar to pay a $4.00 charge. Talk about a cashless society! And that's just my 2ยข worth!

He he. That's funny. Yes, I tend to use my debit card over cash. If I am going to do a ton of shopping in several different places with a budget, I will take cash, that is when I end up with a ton of change! I also just realized if I were to empty all my purses up on my closet shelf I would find more money!
