I am making chicken stew in the crock pot for dinner. I wanted to make beef stew, but I realized earlier that I forgot to grab any beef when I was at the store the other day. Right now it is just chicken breast, potatoes, onions, celery, and carrots. What seasonings should I add? When was the last time you made stew? How do you make yours?

I come from Northern Ireland and Irish stew is our National dish. I make it once a week as my family love it. I have never made chicken stew but I am going to now with your ingrediants. Let me know if this tastes good, but I bet it does. You could add some pepper of oregano to it but its your choice. I would add some extra chicken stock cubes to it also. Thanks for that as I am fed up with my cooking menu and needed a few ideas. Hope you do not find me using this. Take care.

I ended up seasoning it with 2 chicken bullion cubes, sage, thyme, parsley, salt and pepper. Then I made a white sauce with butter, flour, and milk to thicken it up a bit. It turned out really good.

I like to put everything in my stews. Whatever I can find in my refrigerator and cupboards usually go in my stew. That applies to seasonings to. I mostly use garlic salt, seasoning salt, pepper, and onion salt. I like my stew to have a lot of flavor.
