Is it "GLBT" or is it "LBGT?"

I'm laughing because the thought just came to me. As you all know, I am an advocate for the gay rights movement. I have always seen in print, "the GLBT community." Lately, I have seen a lot of LGBT and it strikes me as amusing. Is it a matter of who is doing the speaking? If that's the case, why do we not hear BLGT or TGLB? I'm not making fun. I'm just curious. I have always used GLBT, but it might be because most of the gay people I know are gay men. SO, If you are a part of the community or someone like me who is outside, yet inside, do you say GLBT or LGBT or some other variation?

I've heard GLBT the most, but in some of my texts in gender studies it said LGBT. I've never seen any of the other variations. I think we should just stick with GLBT personally. But I have to say that BLTG would sound like some type of sandwich. ;)

So, um, bacon, lettuse and tomato with gorganzola. Hmmmm. That sounds pretty good. LOL You know, I dig everything that makes a person feel right. Switching around the letters takes nothing away from anything. I've just found it an interesting thing lately. Maybe the BLT will be next and they will ditch the G all together. Or ditch everything and just go with Q. But then the older people and others wouldn't relate. Geez. I'll just have to let whatever happens happen Sorry it took so long to reply.

Well, your right how it is funny. I only hear about GLBT or GLCS (here in Palm Beach County). To me it really dose not matter what is called just as long as they good services for the community. The only thing I have a problem with is the services offered here in my county as the staff thank that they are better then the people who would use the center.

Hey James. Great to see you again. HOpe you are doing well. I'm hoping to get some replies from lesbians who can let me know if they put the l before the t. It just reminds me of the Miss/MSSSSS. debate of my youth. I don't deny anyone's feelings. I'm just trying to get it.

I think that these are all labels which continue to emarginate the gay community further

I've never even heard this term! This is news to me! I surely do not want to offend anyone, but it seems we have to constantly change to be correct, but you can only please some of the people some of the time. There will always be someone who is offended. The best thing about gays, well not the best, but what I like most is that I've never been judged by them. From the beginning of time they have had to endure so much judgment and I have found that they are the ones to not judge, for the most part. There are hateful people everywhere, in every genre, but in general, I'd rather hang with my gay family and friends than anyone else. As a matter of fact, seems there was a recent hateful post here by a mylotter member. And who knew that we couldn't use the D word? How stupid. See, someone was offended and must have complained. I totally got off topic....Sorry.
