Is there anywhere you can buy books as PDF files and just read them on the computer? My friend sent me some books as PDF files but I don't know how he did it and he didn't scan the books or anything. I don't want to ask him about it though, so does anyone here know about it? or how to do it?

Well, they are more commonly called e-books, and depending on what type of books you like, they are available online. E-books are usually cheaper than actual books because there is no printing cost. You usually pay for it, and then download it to your computer, and you can read it by using some reader software like Acrobat. If you have some mobile reader, you can download onto it too. There are some free e-books floating online, especially those who are considered public property and is no longer under copyright rules. As for most books, you still have to purchase them, just like regular books, except with e-books you can shop online anytime, and as soon as your payment clears, you can immediately download your book and start reading.

The easiest way is to use your browser to make a search. The search can be specific such as an educational topic and you will get links to various sites including the ones having PDF files. On most sites you can copy and save in your word processor, or save as a new file. I have done this many times. If you are interested in free old books and you do not mind reading them in text form then there is one site which has thousands of books waiting to be read or downloaded for free. If you download any book from this site you will have to adjust the margins, fonts and whatever else you want to do to it. all the best, rosdimy
