Do you like giving/getting compliments. I like to tell people I like their clothes, purse, hair style or something whenever I see something I really think is nice. But I never tell girls that they're pretty or guys that I think they're attractive. I always feel awkward when people compliment me and I don't know what to say back. I always smile and say thank you though, but I think I just feel bad I don't have anything to compliment them on.

I like to receive compliments, but to an extent. General compliments are always nice to get, such as compliments on my clothes, purse or accessories, or hair. But if a guy comes up to me and starts talking about my smile or my eyes or some other physical feature, sometimes I feel awkward. If he's just saying it to be polite then it's not to bad at all. But if he comes on very strong and keeps persisting it, I know he's up to something, or he's just a punk (lol). But I love it when girls compliment me, and I will always compliment other girls if I like something they're wearing. I figure as a girl that I like to receive compliments, so I always tell other girls if I like what they're wearing. I think it's a very nice gesture if not taken the wrong way.

I agree. Its very annoying when guys try to hit on you by complimenting you. Some guys its flattering and some guys not so much. Its when they are drooling over you like they are ready to pounce. Some guys just have that " I want to sleep with you" look to them.

I like giving compliments but only when there's something nice about that person. But sometimes I too get awkward when someone compliments me and I have nothing to say to them because I can't find a thing to compliment about them. Sometimes though I will say a compliment back, but it only depends.

I do like receiving compliments and I try to give them out a little bit just to be nice. It is weird though when someone compliments you and you don't really know what to say back. If you compliment them back, then they will know it is just because they complimented you first.

Don't you fret. Most people don't give compliments to get one back. Although people should feel good when they get a compliment. It makes the world a better place.

I like giving and getting compliments. If someone gives me a compliment I do the same thing you do and smile and say thank you. I don't thonk that they expect you to say anything else. Unless they are only complimenting you to get one in return. In which case the compliment wasnt genuine anyway.

I do not like getting compliments as I feel that sometimes people are lying to me. They might say your hair looks great, when really it needs cut or washed. I never give many compliments myself, but if someone has a good or nice new hair style I will say to them about it.

I totally agree with you -- I do the same thing! I like to give compliments on people's accessories, hair... but never about weight or being pretty. Those are two things that I'm somewhat sensitive about. Like, if I hear someone say that I look good today, I'd automatically think, "Today? So I wasn't looking good on the other days?" Yeah, that's pretty harsh but that's what I think - I don't process it as a compliment. Ergo, I don't do it to other people too. I guess it's tactful to stick to the same things that you've mentioned when it comes to compliments. :)

Oh, perhaps it because you're shy to do so?? I only compliment people if i feel that i'm close enough to them to say something nice, because such sudden compliment may make them think i'm weird or something... LOL!!

Whenever I get complimented, I usually ruin it by telling them my life story aka how I got it. Oh hey man, nice t shirt! Well! I got this at hot topic in the twenty five percent off bin. Thanks for noticing. By now, they think I'm an arrogant jerk and will move on to other conversations.

If you have nothing good to say to others, don't feel bad. It is enough that you have said nothing bad for them.

Hello, vanonas. I always like to compliment people. It makes me feel good and it makes them feel good. Then, why not? Sometimes people compliment me. They never say I'm handsome, though, , but sometimes they compliment me because of my personality or something I have done really well. And I always say thank you in a firm way, accepting the compliment. I believe that it is the best to do - no saying compliments back because it might sound fake. By the way, you look really beautiful on your avatar. Really. Is that you? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I have a similar problem sometimes. I say thank you and sometimes even blush. I find it difficult to take a compliment. Perhaps its because I have such low self esteem to begin with.

Hello vanonas! I have received many comments on my photos and on my profile. I love getting it and it made me flattered. A simple admiration is okay but not to the extent of harrassing me. Anyway, no one do it yet (thank God!)

Nope, too shy to really do that and I think commenting on other people's body parts is not really good manner although people seem to do it. I would not say gee you're pretty because attractive people already know they are attractive and you cannot say to someone gee you're ugly because they probably already know this although people do not actually say so. If someone has a pretty face they really have not done anything to get it other than have lucky genes from their parents but if they accomplish something then that is worthy of a compliment from me.

I always compliment the people's accessory, but never how they look.. Sometimes people say to me how much beautiful they think I am, And I always don't know what to do! I always have doubts if I should return the compliment, but is not all the time that I have something to commend. Once they praised me and I said: "Thanks! I love your shoes!" Then I realized what I did. The person obviously thought that I didn't think that she was good looking.. lol Sometimes I don't like be praising them, because they think that they are the best! Or that I envy them, and is not always like that! That it's just so ridiculous! And please, excuse me my english!
