do you eat too much salt?

Sodium: A Good Thing...in Moderation We may malign the salt shaker, but sodium plays an important role in maintaining the body's fluid balance. It’s essential for muscles and nerves to function properly. But most of us consume too much of it. FDA guidelines call for less than 2,400 mg of sodium per day -- about 1 teaspoon of table salt. Surprisingly, most of our salt intake doesn’t come from the salt shaker; it’s hidden in many of the foods we buy at the grocery store. Track Your Sodium Intake Unsure of how much sodium you’re getting every day? Keep a daily tally of the foods you eat and drink. Then calculate how much sodium is in each. Any surprises? I know that I use way too much salt, I add it to almost everything I eat. Do you eat way too much salt?

Hi yanwei, I answered your question about the flavor difference in the 2 salts above this response..Yes, I too love Chinese food and the really bad part is when we go to the all you can eat Chinese place..I am sure we all overdose on sodium when we do that, but it is so good we can't stop ourselves..

Hello ladybug. I think that I eat moderate salt daily. I don't like my food too salty, nor do I like it too plain. I usually buy salt with sodium added to in it. Thank you for the discussion, friend.

I hate salty foods! But I know what you mean, a lot of it is in food you can't tell so thats how most people get too much!I try to eat all natural, organic food so that helps. I also actually put salt in my water, it's really good for you with water. I use this pink mineral salt. My mom works at a health food store so that's how I found out about it. You only need a small amount though!

I love salty food rather than sweet foods. If I have to choose between a crisp or cake...my eyes will be drawn to the crisp. I dont know though where did I got this. I was already a grown up when I realized that I've got the salty tongue. My friends use to call me miss lays. I know that this is bad though a lot friends were telling me. I just hope I wont exceed to my limitations of sodium in take. I dont want to get hospitalized again.

Actually I eat very little salt. There are very few foods that I need it on and I've gotten myself used to not having it. Hubby on the other hand needs his own salt lick. He puts tons of it on everything. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I find your information very important to learn from. I believe that I probably do eat too much salt. It does need to be used in moderation and I think in the past years or so I might have backed off from it a bit. It is also a good idea to track the sodium intake especially for those with high blood pressure in my opinion. Thanks for posting.

Yes, I eat too much salt and enjoy it. Many of my friends have warned me against it. My blood pressure is normal and that makes me not to worry about taking salts. This is a nice topic to discuss. :-)
