Gift cards?

Has anyone else heard not to purchase gift cards for the holidays? I have heard many rumors that state not to purchase gift cards this holiday season because of so many stores going out of business. Apparently, these stores will close after the holidays and you will not be able to redeem gif cards. I think this is awful. Normally I do not purchase gift cards as presents, but I do receive them. Have you heard any news on gift cards?

No, did not hear this, but it actually makes a lot of sense. When I give people gift cards, it's usually simon giftcards or Visa giftcards which have more ways to be used. So, they're not stuck with one option.

Thanks for the comment. That is a wonderful alternative to giving gift cards for specific stores and will avoid the possibility for unusable cards.
