do you think in today's hi-fi gen y world, old age people actually get the amount of love and respect they actually deserve? or is it like they're thought of being useless and thrown away? what's your opinion.

In my observation current generation old age people are not getting enough amount of respect and love they thought they deserve. They blame the younger generation for being ungrateful. The way I see it they are also to be blamed because the younger generation is a product of the older generation. If a product is faulty the manufacturer has to take the blame. In this case the product cannot be recalled and replaced. Respect should be earned. Many old people expect to be respected by the younger generation but they generally do not respect the younger generation. all the best, rosdimy

Hello,Binny! The older people of the present generation do not get the respect or the love or care they expect from the younger generation. It due to many factors. The first among these is the present younger generation is very ambitious and they want to accumulate wealth at any cost and they in the process don't like to mar their career for relationship. They don't look and take care of their own kids as they have no time. The second factor responsible for this is the present older people themselves. They have broken away from the main family and they have neglected their parents and other older people. The present young people have learned this and they also started ignoring their parents. We may say it a generation gap. This process would continue for some time and until then the present older generation have no other way but to perish. As you sow so you reap. How can you expect mango from a guava tree.thanx.

In todays generation we have become more self-centered and many people consider people as commodities. If useless throw them out.If useful keep them. The number of old age homes creeping up even in small towns is itself the mirror of the level to which our moral values have come down. Its just sickening to see people after getting all from parents just dump them.

If i can generalize , the answer is YES. The older generation does not get the respect they deserve. The reasons for this could be: The current generation does not value personal relationships as they are more used to the virutual world. Easy money due to the economic boom gives a false sense of superiority to the younger generation of today. The older generation also may be responsible partly for this as they have not kept in sinc with the changes of the current world. The fact that the current younger generation have been brougt up in nuclear families, they might have never seen how their parents have treated elders.
