I am a big fan of the Harry Potter book series and I have yet to try reading the Twilight series. Which is better?

I've read both series, and they are not exactly in the same category. Although both are originally written for young adults as a target audience, and have gained popularity even among adults. Harry Potter is really an adventure book, a coming-of-age tale of a young wizard discovering his own identity and his own powers while battling his evil nemesis Lord Voldermort. The Twilight series is really a teen romance with some cheesy vamp action thrown in. It is simply a tale of a teenage human girl and her love affair with a vampire and the challenges they face in pursuing their relationship. Both books have pretty interesting plots, although Harry Potter is more complex and has more depth in my opinion. The Twilight books are quick reads, if you don't mind, light romantic stories. Although I feel, the books could have been edited more. I would say, the best way to form an opinion is read them yourself. If you don't like the first book of Twilight or even the few chapters, you can always stop.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm addicted to anything that has a romance angle, so I read Twilight. I'm into adventure so I read Harry Potter. Overall, I'm glad I read both series. I feel as a reader, I don't need to choose between them, but enjoy each books.

This spells it out pretty nicely. They're difficult to compare. I do feel like at different ages I would choose differently. If I was a few years younger I'd be way more excited by Harry Potter. As it is, I am 19 years old and I think Twilight is a lovely romantic story.

we cant compare both books because each books have different type of imagination that is being presented.. i love HP and i also love twilight, maybe, the only thing they have in common is that they are targetting readers who are young and book lovers..thats it.. Ü

Both books are amazing. The Twilight series tends to appeal to more women. I personally prefer the Twilight series. It is deeper than the Harry Potter series though. I see the Harry Potter series as more of a "light" read, it is very enjoyable but does not require as much intellectual stimulation. The Twilight series contains a lot of intricate symbolism that many find fascinating but some people might consider it work in a way that makes it less enjoyable. I think it depends on the person. i would at least buy the first book and give it a chance. Hope this helps!

i'm a huge fans of HP books, i've read all of them and watched the movies which i disliked on the contrary i haven't read twilight yet but i've watched the movies twice and planning to watch it again but seeing the movie makes me wanting to read the book which i've heard very interesting book if you're trying to compare between HP & twilight, i don't think is possible because both book have different genre and target of fans when you read HP is a book that you can read while you're very young up until you've become an adult, and the story could be related to any gender male or female so all in all HP is a book that could be read by any gender and ages meanwhile twilight is more for a teenager and women i think men will find the books less appealing then women
