If you were judge what sentence would you give to a rapist?

well, if i were be a judge i would probably a life imprisonment... cause i still believed that they can change there life..

I would sentence him to have his private parts nailed to a tree and when he couldn't stand it anymore, have them get the machete out and take care of the rest.

Gee that is hard if I was the judge, of course regardless of my personal feelings I would have to go by the law of course, but assuming that I knew what the law was, it would say about 7 years that sounds about right.

I have little faith in the legal system being 100% accurate, but if you could truly determine a rapist's guilt 100%, I think I'd start with castration.

Well... i wouldn't use capital punishment, i think executing someone through the justice system is as bad as murdering. Depending on the context, the most i'd give is about 25 years. Which is large in England compared to the couple of years they give rapists now days. (Even still allowing the excuse that women povoke men to rape them... how disgusting is that excuse? and some male judges tend to go for tht excuse!)

It's much better in your country then.Here if you did this alone,you get from 3 to 7 years, if this crime was commited in group, then the maximum would be 10 years.And often the crime is 100% real, and those men are just returned from prison in most of the cases.I think for second crime they should get at least 20 years. But:it's different thing when a girl sleeps with a guy and then cries she was raped and when someone attacks and forces a woman to make love with him.6 years ago there was a business here:a teenage girl invites a man to her house,they make love and then suddenly the door opens and the "brother"of this girl(usually her friend)comes and accuses the man:"What you've done with my sister?!now you'll go to jail." The poor guy is petrified and he pays money for his "crime". Some girls lie, so with extremely strict law we could make a big mistake and put even innocent guy to jail.

i believe execution is the best method for rapist to relieve the world from all this perverts. This will then remove the roots of the cause.

I think a rapist should have his wang cut off, be nuetered like we do dogs that wonder and won't stay home. I also think they should be monitored with an ankle or leg device or chipped like we do our dogs with a GPS, so they know if the person goes where he shouldn't be, near schools, a bar, etc. If we put them in jail it's up to us to foot the bill for his upkeep daily, that's way in the thousands every year. Why shoul we suufer this expense when they can pay for the device on their arm, leg, etc. and for their probation officers services every month.

my sentence is sweet and easy. CASTRATE HIM!!!!!!! but of course there are other factors that have to be involved before a guy proceeds to become a eunuch. of course, this sort of severe punishment is for those hardcore rapist. but for those caught in a compromising position because of the girl, then i should say he isn't a rapist at all. and i guess for such, a sentence on him wouldn't be fair. oh such sticky business.

This is definitely an act that is hard to imagine being a victim of. The idea of violation such as rape. To take over the power and control of another human being by use of violence is really a reprehensible act. And imagine the ones that don't even get caught at all and some rapes aren't even documented by the victim. These victims have to suffer for the rest of their lives and the rapist themselves live on and some even might get released from prison on their own recognizance whether that even makes any sense. I don't always like to be the judge but this kind of post comes up every once in a while where it is asked what kind of punishment should be handed down to these people that commit these horrendous actions toward a person. I can tell you one thing if something like this were to hit a personal note like someone that I was friends with or a family member of mine I would probably want the person to go to prison for the duration of their lives. Not to mention that a rapist has taken away a sort of innocence from a person that did not deserve it. The victim is imprisoned in their own way and the criminal probably never could fully understand the repercussions that his actions do to a person. On that note I believe that a long term prison sentence or life sentence should be warranted. Take care agrim.

Well, if the accusations are established and it is a case of 100% rape then I think I would sentence him to be castrated. I have heard this type of sentence is in vogue in Muslim countries.

Life! I would give the culprit life and no lesser sentence. I would want him to rot and die in the prison. This is providing he is guilty of the crime! This has to be proved otherwise an innocent man's life could be ruined. This must be a very difficult job for the judge as he/she has to follow sentence guidelines I guess. Anyway, that's my view. If it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that it was rape, I consider life sentence as a reasonable penalty.

If it were a 100% confirmed, they should let the woman or someone in her family cut his thing off without numbing it or pain killers so that he could never do it again. Let him live so that he can regret it for the rest of his life! If a woman lied and said it was rape, but she was found to be a willing participant, she should do 1 or 2 years in jail for lying and trying to ruin someone else's life because she doesn't want to be called the "cheap" girl that she really is.

I would have him executed if he killed the victim. I think that seven years is way too short, but if you executed a rapist who did not kill the victim, what sentence should be given to a murderer? Should you torture the killer, boil him in oil? As for the girl accusing the man of rape when she really wanted it, it is something like what we have in Canada years ago, when they had this technical rape because the girl was underage. This was across the board, and no matter if the girl was tied up and raped or if she went willingly along with her seduction, because of this technical rape being applied, she was assumed she went along even when she did not. I think for actual rape, a life sentence, for rape that is not really rape, seven years. And not sure, something inbetween. If there is a baby conceived, in the case of actual rape, the man has to pay for the education of the child and not just to get the child to get a working class job, but so the child can go to University. If she lured him on, she has to marry the guy. If the guy thinks that he can get away and not marry a wh*re or a bad girl, he will think twice of falling to her schemes and if she has to wake up all the time to a guy who snores, she will think twice about luring him on.

Hello, agrim94! Being a judge is not an easy task. There is always the risk of sentencing an innocent person. Justice made by the hands of humans may fail sometimes. And when it fails, a lot of people get angry and it is really unfair. Even if the rape was confirmed, I would not change your country's laws: 7 years. Seven years is enough. Why kill the rapist? Then he will not be able to regret what he have done. If we sentence him to the rest of his life in jail, then he will regret what he did but will not be able to do anything to change his situation. And, as soon as he was out of jail (after the seven years), I'd make sure he got treated, in some sort of clinic. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

There are other things worse then rape. Treachery is worse then rape. Governments would find a traitor a major threat then a rapist. Many prisoners would kill the traitor (snitch) first then some person who raped someone else. I would give him three years. Why? To encourage him to be good. If he commits crime in prison then he gets more time.
