What Year Was Jesus Born In?

Hello, folks. I'm currently reading about Jesus's life. He had begun his ministry at least by A.D. 28 at the age of thirty. Now, if I do the math correctly, that mean He was born....
2 B.C.
Can you imagine that?
Registrar: Sir, what year were you born?
Jesus: 2 B.C. (2 before me, LOL).
Since Jesus was a Jew, they must have used a Hebrew calendar.

I remember asking this to someone and they told me there was a certain marker for the years he alive. Something like EC, I forgot what I was told exactly.
