Since I was a kid, I've always been susceptible to colds. Bring me in the middle of a gathering or crowd with mumps, sore eyes or any other relatively the same viral/bacterial illness and i would be seemingly immune. but bring me within 12 feet of someone who has colds and you can expect i would have it the next day. It seems i've tried all types of remedies and medication. From drixine to chicken soup. Nothing seems to get rid of my colds except time and bed rest. What do you usually take or do when you have colds?

I usually load up on vitamin C and try some of the over the counter stuff but none of that usually helps me too much. Getting plenty of rest and pushing fluids will help. The more fluids you have in your body, the more the faster the virus will be flushed out of your system. Hang in there!

Hi there, I have had series of colds too before, and my nose are very sensitive to dust or strong perfume, I would start with just sneezing and the next, is colds. I don't get sick at all but that. And I would end up resting in bed the next day. I have tried everything as well, but what made me think of the best thing that helped me is not a cold medicine.. a clean, dust free air! I used to live in a city, so I assume that triggers my allergies, when I got married, and moved in a place where there is fresh air, trees and plants surrounds me, it helped a lot!. What contributes too, is taking vitamins C supplement everyday, drink more water.. and a clean bedroom--clean sheets, curtains, everything.. Just save yourself from possible dust, because some or most of them have allergens that triggers colds, runny nose. If sneezing starts, take anti-histimine before it gets worse. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!

in the uncountable times i've been to the doctor, allergies have been one of the suspects that's been brought up as cause for my being easily susceptible to colds. whenever i get colds, a fever usually follows shortly. so getting rid of this unwelcomed affinity with colds has always been an ongoing search for me. unfortunately, a live in the city and that part where possible allergens are abundant. i really cant isolate any possible cause if it is an allergy. i haven't tried taking anti-histamines while in the onslaught of an attack. i'll try that later. thanks for that tip. happy holidays to you and your family as well!

Its not a sure method of how to get rid of the common cold. You just have keep eating warm food, drink alot of fluids, keep hands washed and stay away from people with colds. They say vitamin c helps.
