I was much happier when I was a kid during Christmas

I have to admit that as an adult I somehow lost the excitement of celebrating Christmas every year. I still attend mass, and still excahnge gifts with my friends, but that's about it. When I was a kid, Christmas is the one day I long for each year, and it's always a happy occasion when everyone in the family comes together to celebrate Christmas. Nowadays, it seems like it's just another day for me. Do you guys ever feel the same way?

I think Christmas is mostly for children, especially when they still believe in Santa! I have lost interest in Christmas, partly because it's all so commercialized now it's all about spend, spend, spend and the true meaning of Christmas has been lost because everyone is expected to buy which is a great pity. All the work, hassle, money and stress that goes into Christmas and for what, just two days, and it's all over so quickly. I look forward to the start of the new Year more. I won't be doing much different this Christmas than a normal weekend at home.

Wolfie I am shocked that you no longer believe in Santa, I have just put gliter out near the reindeer food so that it will sparkle and direct them to my home and set a drink and a mince pie for Santa when he gets here . Thank you for your kind words and friendship. Have a good break. Love and Huggles. Ellie :D

Speaking of Santa, I once wore that costume and I accidentally stumbled in front of my nephews and nieces, revealing my identity. Since then my nephews and nieces spread the word in their school(heck to everyone they know) that I'm Santa. It's a good thing I live in a different country now :o) .

I think it might because you had no expectations when you were a kid. Even thought you sill celebrate Christmas as an adult, there are those taints of everyday life creeping around the rims of things. Depending on what is going on in your life, real life can mess up your Christmas if you let it.

Yeah, that I think is part of the reason. All I ever cared about during Christmas when I was a kid was, "What my parents bought me for Christmas." It's totally different that I'm an adult, and I'm the one buying all those gifts.

hi Brady2moss, I can understand how you feel as there isn't that childlike excitement about it all like there was when a child but I have my own small child of 4 and seeing the excitement in his eyes makes it for me and I also have older children so I will experience the same through grandchildren in the future. Have a great time though. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ellie333! Yeah, I don't have a kid yet, so I guess I'm missing out on that excitement you talk about. I have young nephews and nieces and I see how excited they are during Christmas. I love them so, but I guess the feeling is a lot different if it was my own child I'm seeing being happy and joyful. Merry Christmas to you and your family ellie333!

Yes, I do. For some reason, Christmas doesn't excite me like it used to. It's just like any other day of the year, except people give others presents. I just see it like any other day of the year. I don't see any thing that is much special that any other day doesn't have. It's just like any other day.

Yes..sometimes I feel that way when I get all wrapped up in the money spending and tired from working all the time. It's very different when you grow up. I still kinda feel like a kid when I see my girls open up their gifts though.
