Ok so I had one of those prepaid cell phones through AT&T the go phone. Well I didn't have the money to get more time on it for a little over a month. Then I got a $15 card for Christmas so not even thinking about it I put the $15 in my phone acct. Guess what? they gave my phone number to someone else and I just gave away my $15 gift!!!!!! I called AT&T they won't do a darn thing unless I buy another $20 sim card or another $20 phone!!!! Well after the crap*y service I recieved even if I had $20 (but it would be $40 cause my daughter's cell is in the same boat thank goodness I found out before using both cards on both phones)which I don't I wouldn't give it to them. So the person who gave us the cards is now going to try to get their money back on the one and they went and bought us two new prepaid phones with 20 minutes on each one from Trac Phone and they only cost $9.99 each!!! So that is half the cost of the Sim card and 5 extra minutes on each one!! I plan on buying enough days and minutes to last the rest of the year after I end working in April so I won't be in that boat again. I think the trac phone is a better deal anyway cause I can get a double up card that is good for the life of the phone and then it doubles the time and minutes I buy from then on which is cool. Plus minutes are less expensive on the Trac Phone.

I have never had a go phone and did not know they give your phone number away. I am so sorry this happens. Did you read the contract and know that if you did not use the phone for a while they would give your number away? Did they try to contact you?

That is the thing with prepaid there are no contracts. They never once tried to contact me and they had my email and home phone number.

Keep in mind that it was my experience with one company, a company that I might add never has had good customer relations cause they tend to be too big to listen to one customer.I am back with Tracfone who I have never had a problem with.

Hi sweet! That is really crappy of AT&T! I used to have their service for my landline a long time ago and then Verizon bought them out. I stayed with Verizon for awhile, but got sick of them too and finally switched to my Cable company for my phone, cable tv and internet. They give some kind of deal for having all three services. As for my cell phone I also have prepaid phone with Sprint/Nextel. It sucks too! The phone cost $59.99 and I've had it for about 3 years now. It was a gift and as soon as it breaks I am also getting a Trac phone. My girlfriend has had hers for a few years and she has that double service thing and loves it! She has a more expensive phone that she bought, but she uses it all the time. She is very happy with the service. You will be too!

Yeah the double up card sold me on it. I had a trac phone years and years ago then I switched to Cricket then when I came to florida I got a cell with cingular hated the high bill so went with another company and thier bill started to creep up higher each month too so I just went with prepaid. Don't know why I picked AT&T for both mine and my daughter but I think it had something to do with the phone to phone feature which wasn't supposed to use any minutes.....another of their lies cause it cost $1 a day to use that feature so if you called once a day it took away $1 that day off the balance you had. So now we both have trac phones and I am already pleased as punch cause it was super easy to activate and they gave us each an extra 10 minutes on our phones and we have till the end of february to add to our acct which I will do way before then cause I start getting my reg. pay checks in January and my boss is already giving me extra hours on the schedule cause one of my coworkers is very ill and he needs someone to take over her hours. He called today to make sure I had checked my schedule online.

It's the same story in Malta we have three companies in Malta but it seems that they do have a monopoly. The customer does not benefit at the end of it.

I agree that TracFone has a good prepaid plan. It is also the cheapest, I think, as I have averaged something like $8.25 a month of the several years I have had mine. If you talk on the phone a lot that is not a good option, for for emergency use there is no better way to go.

Yeah... you are right. I was with verizon for a while and a single bill for me was 177 dollars a month! And I only had 1000 minutes! It was insane! I would suggest calling AT&T back and immediately ask to speak to a supervisor. Try not to be pissy... just assertive. Tell him your situation and if he says there is nothing he can/ will do, tell him that you will just go with another company. Usually, that is what you have to do to get anywhere... I learned that very quickly! Good Luck to you! I feel your pain!

First thing i did after getting no where with the person on the phone I asked to speak to the supervisor who proceeded to tell me they would do nothing for me. This is after I wait 20 minutes on hold to speak to her. I told her there was NO WAY i was going to pay them $20 on my phone for a new sim card and $20 on my daughter's phone for a new sim card when I could get brand new phones with 20 minutes on each for $20!! She didn't care she still wouldn't do anything about giving me a refund for the $15 that went on some strangers phone!!

I went to prepaid because of the high cell bills that I could no longer afford half the year. I work as a tax preparer half the year the other half is strictly my crafts bringing in any money so I can't afford a monthly cell bill may through November.
