is it okay if i started similar topic?

lately i hardly started any topic and only responding to others, this is because everytime i intend to start a topic, i checked, and there always some similar topic with the one i want to post that already posted here.. is it okay if i started similar topic? or should i just keep on responding?

This happens relatively often. Most of the time, even if you haven't found a similar post, one will come along. Don't let it stop you from making your own posts, as there's almost always a bit of difference. Just don't ever "steal" somebody else's post, which happens now and then, too...

No it isn't ok.
In the Guidelines it says:
[i]'Don't Post similar or identical postings. Stealing posts from other users or posting the same thing over and over again will not help your myLot earnings.
Don't Start a new discussion unless you have something of substance to say.'[/i]
If you have no idea for a discussion then just respond to other. Youmight even get new ideas while seeing what others are discusing but repeating topics is not worth it as they would be deleted.

thank you for remind me of the guidelines.. actually i do exactly as you said, i do a lot of responses and come up with some good idea, but when i check, there's some topic already started with the one i want to start.. i just feel upset sometimes.. hehe.. because this is happened several times.. so i think i just not lucky enough :D

I for once prefer to respond than to start a discussion. To me I wouldn't encourage you to start a similar topic because the traffic to your discussion will be lesser.

I have checked on discussions before I have started one and have still found similar ones on after. I think as long as you do not copy anyone discussion it is OK to do something similar. I have not started that many discussions as I enjoy answering other more.
