I myself do not work. I am a stay at home mother. However my husband drives a truck for a living and he might have to work some over time from New Year's eve into the New Year's day which kind of is a shame. I enjoy having him around during the holidays but we do need the extra money.

drivers, their services are even on demand more during the holidays. all sorts of drivers are busier when days like the ones we have now are around. they serve because, as you say bamakelly, the extra income generated will serve the needs of the family. and you are so correct here, my dear friend.

Happy New Year, rberon. We have four days' rest for the new year, from December 31st to January 3rd. So I am enjoying myself a lot and I spend my time online with my friends. Take care.

My wife has to work the 1st but I work from home working my own online business so I have the luxury of setting my own hours and I am not setting any hours for the 1st. I will be out New Years eve for a dinner party and then a guitar jam after wards and they usually last all night long so no work for me the next day. My wife will stay until mid night and then straight home in a cab.

No I don't have to work and now I am working online and working on my own *laughs*. I guess that's a type of working but not too bad if working for myself. You have a nice rest day.

there are some people who will be entangled with their regular jobs even if it is a new year's day. those will be the security guards, the perons in the banks who are taking charge of the atm machines, the drvers, the vendors...as i come to think of it, there are quite a number there. i thought that there will be so few but, i am wrong. ok, i am staying home most probably. i am taking more than two months off from farmwork, alright. that means i have my hands free. whatever work i may be doing on that day is just a matter of choice for me. how good it is to feel no pressure from working at all.
