How long have you gone on without sleeping?

Have you ever had to burn the midnight oil to rush some proposal out? well with all my reports and projects and stuff, i find that this is not unfamiliar to me. However, i can only go on without sleep for one night. By the 2nd night, i would need toothpicks to open my eyelids and normally succumb to temptation and go right straight into la la land. What about you? What is your longest record? And what were you doing to keep awake?

I usually wake till late night during my exams. But i couldn't wake after 5am. I was continuosly studying from 12 in the night till 5 in the morning. And when i slept at 5am, i woke at 7 again and started studying. So what I could make out from my study pattern was that i can go on waking for long, but somewhere between, i need 1-2 hours of sleep, and then i can go on.

Definitely only one night. I have worked the overnight shift before in some residential homes or hospitals. It is extremely hard for me to stay awake between 3 and 5 am. It is the most difficult time for me. I just can not keep my eyes open.

Me too - I have stayed awake for 48 hours at the most. I was on holiday (years ago) and we were just all messing around my friends and me and decided to stay up. I was so tired and useless the next day! Really moody too. I learnt that day that I am not one for staying up all night. I couldn't wait to sleep after that. But these days I find that when I am really really tired, I find it harder to sleep! Strange huh?
