Too tired to sleep?

Singapore
January 2, 2009 11:13am CST
It is way past my bedtime and I'm actually very, very tired. I cleaned up the entire house today, went on all fours to wipe the floors, cleaned the bathroom, swept the floor, etc. When my daughter took her nap, I cleaned up some more. When she woke up, we went to the playground. And we took a walk at night. When it was time for my daughter to go to sleep, she refused to settle down. She was having some sleep problems and so was I. She finally slept close to midnight. I can't believe it. She has never slept so late. Now that she has gone to bed, I'm wide awake. I'm just too tired to sleep. Have you ever been too tired to sleep? Tell me your experience.

Okie dokie, will try that the next time I have this problem. I don't get it often, but once in a while it happens and frustrates me.

Yes, there are nights that I tried anything and everything in my power to go to sleep but I wasn't successful that almost made me cry!

Gosh! Is is chronic? It happens to me only sometimes, not all the time. I think I need to check my caffeine intake. I have stopped taking coffees to see if the situation improves.

But according to my cousin who's a nurse, coffee is actualy a stimulant that will make you fall a sleep.

This has happened to me so many times when I used to work in nightclubs as a musician. I would often roll into bed exhausted at 4 in the morning only to find I couldn't get to sleep. When I stopped worrying about it, everything went back to normal. :-) Derek

Sometimes you still feel the rush from the excitement of your work day to drop off to sleep. It happens to me too. So I tried to calm down at mylot and was able to sleep at 2am after much ranting. Thank you for your response!

sleeping - To have a good sleep is a must for us to live more happily
Hello SydneyHazelton. There are times that I could not fall asleep when I was too tired. It was annoying when I could not fall asleep however sleepy and tired I was then. Then it could be after one or two o'clock in the morning before I could fall asleep, leaving me lack of energy the next day. Take care, friend.

Hello SydneyHazelton, It happens to me sometimes. Whenever I feel too tired, I just can't sleep. My eyes wide open and my mind turns blank. Sometimes, I don't know what to do and I don't have the mood to do anything except staring at the ceiling. My body can't just relax when I feel too tired... Like tonight, it is almost midnight and I still can't sleep!

HI gr8life, I experience that too. There are also times when I fall asleep and my mind is going through the day's work. When I was studying last time, my mind would be doing math calculations. Stressful! But luckily, I can sleep now, but not soundly, because my daughter sleeps with us and she sometimes toss and turn, and wake me up in the middle of the night. Sometimes she has her legs up at out necks and we need to shift her. Interrupted sleep is better than no sleep at all.

Hey my friend, happy new year`~ I just suffered exactly what you mentioned last week, when I participated in my club match that lasted about 3 hours after my dinner.I kept playing badminton with other club member even I lost the match at last~lol~When I finally laid down in bed with very very tired body,I found that I can not sleep, without a little bit feeling. So then,I kept waking up all night long and maybe felt alseep at about 5am,maybe~~ I don't know why~the most strange part was that I was full of energy the 2nd day

5am! Wow! I would have to get up the next hour or so, and I would be feeling worse the next day and cannot function rationally. I'd get mad quickly. I'm surprised that you are still full of energy the next day.

If I am too tired, I would sleep that moment. I would find hard to wake up that morning. The day when I clean the room, I would be tired so much. Cleaning is a never ending process for me with toys scattered. But now as my son has grown up to 3 years, he picks his toys.

You are right. i'm always picking up toys out of the way all the time. Sweeping crumbs and wiping tables and floor every few moments. It never gets done, never!

Sometimes the more that I am tired the more I find it harder to sleep. When such thing happen to me, I just try to stay wide awake as much as I can and than usually I go to bed when I cannot stand any longer. I sleep like a log.

I have to have the energy to wake up the next morning when my daughter wakes up, so I do try to force myself to sleep earlier, but she is sleeping later and later. I'm tired after she goes to bed. I'm trying to find a suitable sleep routine for her so that I can rest longer.

My, my you can remember it when it is two years back. I'm not sure if I had too much caffeine. That could have been the other reason. But I really needed the sleep. Thank you for responding!

Hey sydney! No wonder you can't sleep! You are just overtired! That's what happens when you are too wound up! It takes extra time to unwind and get to sleep! That happens to me all the time! If I do too much physical work and am exhausted and then try to sleep I find that I just can't sleep! My body may be tired, but I am too wound up to sleep! I think that happens to alot of people. You just have to try to do something to calm yourself down a bit and they try to get to sleep.

I was overtired. I guess that was why I was able to sleep later after I mylotted a bit to unwind. Sometimes when the urge to clean up comes, I just go on and on.

some of us may experience this kind of stuff. acute insomnia that is. that is due to change of sleeping patterns, fatigue/stress and other causes. as of late, due to the holidays i have also been experiencing this feeling of too tired to sleep thing. i have been doing my holiday homeworks, cleaning our house, my room and helping my dad with some stuff. i have also been going out with friends and at the end of the day i just sit and stare at the computer and even if it is way way past my bedtime i still can't sleep.

I think the excitement during the day makes us stay up later even though we are very tired from them. I hope I get my normal sleep routine back soon, or I can't function very well in the day. Thank you for your response!
