By a copy ,I mean same topic and theme ,the only thing thats changed is the heading and words used .Do you consider this to be ripoff and do you get angry ? or are you happy that someone was able to take the topic and deal with it better ? Is all fair in love and Mylotting ?.Would you knowingly do the same thing ? What are your views on duplicate discussions should the discussion be banned or the person be banned or nothing should be done.I happened to be writing for another site and accidentally posting a duplicate thread of my own discussion and I was warned .

I thought about that a while ago and yes,it might get me a bit sad but on the other hand,we cannot control people. Judging on my own example,I don't always feel like answering a certain discussion but that might change depending on my mood and how busy MyLot is. If there's nothing else to do,people would respond to discussions they wouldn't care for before, right? Also,it depends on how well you explained the topic and what sort of friends you have. Usually it's friends who answer first That's if somebody chose the same topic as me and did it better. Now,if somebody stole your topic verbatim using good old copy&paste,I'd be pretty angry

I would feel really bad at it, but in case I had not created the discussion and it was just in my mind, I would do nothing. But in case that person copied from a discussion which I already posted, and the topic is not any cheesy one like "Which color you love?" or anything else, but a rare one, then I will definitely report him abuse with the link to my topic. Though I am sure myLot won't ban him, but at least it can decrease his/her rank. Regards, AJ-Rox

I guess I'll be interested in reading the responses of people to it. Sometimes, we don't get responses of what we post first for reason, others might have posted more discussions after we do. It won't be really a big deal, well.. To me! =)

I have seen this on mylot. Even with my own. Sometimes, it hasnt come to mind yet that someone may have already posted something like what you are about to do. It is kind of interesting to me to see what phrasing gets more people, even though it is also based on exposure. There was something I had posted that after a search, found others had posted as well. One of them had a lot more responses than mine and was more recent. The other was over a year old and had fewer than mine. I think that happens on a lot of sites. After all, it might cause many to lose inspiration if they had to do a search before they wrote to ensure no one had already composed something like it.

Without knowing what discussions you were talking about it would be hard to say. Many people can have similar thoughts about the same subject. You did say that the heading and words were different. Was the idea promoted from a different point of view? It might have been an original work, just similar to yours. We are supposed to search discussions before we start one but how many people do you think really do that? If it truly is a violation I am sure mylot will delete it sooner or later.

well, this things never happened to me yet but if ever happens, i just let go with the flow.. anyway this a forum, you can express anything you want. so if the person loves to copy mine or others discussion. That would be fine for me.. at least, the person who copied it, express his interest on the topic you had and who knows this might get an additional responds with others that can use it sometime.

Uh, no I would not be made if they made a similar discussion about the same topic. I WILL be mad if someone copy & pastes MY discussion . However using someone's discussing and paraphrasing it still sounds like plagiarism...you're stealing the person's idea and not giving credit for it. Uh, and I think people should come up with their own discussions and stop trying to copy others. Pablo

I have seen this multiple time on discussions I have started. I always wonder if it is the wording in which I started the discussion with or what in the world happened. I have some discussions that only have a few responses, then turn around a few days later, same discussion topic what not and it has over thirty responses. I must admit that at times it makes me angry, but I get over it. It' not about money for me really, it's about communicating with people since I don't really have many friends. So I guess if that is the one that people wanted to respond to then so be it. I can't change it and maybe my next discussion will be batter. Happy mylotting.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. They have the right to post what they want, but that doesn't make it right whether it is better or not. I would think they'd want to come up with their own post but time and time again I see twenty or more posts on the same subject. Certain subjects they go nuts over. Then I think there are those who will read and comment on a friend's post and ignore another even though it might be superior.

Maybe for example, there is a discussion is same meaning as mine, that is ok, I just thought that person just want to do the same thing. Thinking it from the good side, we all come from different places, in one day, another person thinking about one discussion as mine, so interesting.

I'm not sure. There are so many discussions going on, how can you know if it was delibrately done? Like I thought about asking for people's top 10 movies, according to their views. I'm sure it's already been done, but I don't feel like searching all over MyLot to find it. Then you have the topic. Like getting cheated on. There are millions of people who have been cheated on. They might all start the same topic about it, but each one is a unique person with a unique viewpoint. Maybe they're all looking for answers, for something to feel not quite so awful, for help. They didn't get it on another discussion, so they're trying again. I don't think there's anything wrong with different discussions on the same thing. But I try to follow MyLot's rules. They're the ones running this show. Whatever they say goes. Me, I had a personal reason for the top 10. Finding something new to watch! (It's called cheating. If I find a discussion on it, I can weed out the bad movies and stop wasting money on renting. It really sucks renting something, and it's horrid.)
