My Son is seven months old and refuses it sit up. he can sit up but he wont he rather play on his belly. Now My best friend has a baby 19 days younger then my son and is doing the oppsite. is there anything i can do to get my son to sit up more?

Try putting toys in a position that will encourage him to sit to reach for them. This is the method my pedi told me to encourage my little one to crawl; put the toys just out of reach. So for sitting up, try suspending his toys just over his head. I had one of those playmats that had the two rods that criss-crossed over his head from corner to corner. So, try sitting him up and showing him the toys. Prop him up with a boppy pillow or something and let him have fun for a few minutes. Then take the pillow away and lay him down, show him the toys that he can't reach. Then prop him up again and show him he can reach and play. Do this a few times a day. I'll bet within a few days, he'll start to try to do it on his own. And the better the toys suspended out of reach, the harder he'll try to get them. Try to put new things up there, things he hasn't seen before to pique his interest. Good luck!

You can prop him up on pillows until he works up enough strength and stamina to do it on his own for a few minutes. Its a process. They start out sitting alone for a few seconds, and then it builds from there. Kids often do things at their own pace, so you need not compare to the next child. You can check with doctors or other resources like the internet to find out the "normal range" for most things, however its not written in stone. As long as he falls within the normal range, I wouldn't be concerned so much. He is just moving at his own pace.
