My son will turn 12 in March and for his Birthday, I want to...

Throw a party for him and his friends at the Laser Tag complex about an 1 hour and 15 minutes away. So my husband and I have decided to rent a bus - maybe a limo for the trip there and back. We thought about inviting 10 of his friends (he can pick) and just have a blast. The complex offers a package that includes everything and I mean everything (cake, ice cream, 2 rounds of laser tag, gift bags, etc..) Does this sound like a good idea for a 12 year old and his friends? Or am I going overboard? Suggestions and thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance for responding.

The party itself sounds perfect. The limo however.. I don't know, that sounds a bit overboard. It's a birthday party, not a prom or anything, you know. I understand that it's a long drive and many parents may not want to drive their kids there, but I do think the limo is overdoing it. I'd probably opt for a closer venue where parents would actually drive to, or possibly just do it at home. But me personally, I'm done throwing birthday parties. The one I threw for my twins turned out horribly. I spent $160 and only 3 kids turned out for it. If I ever do another party, I'm going to do it at home, that way it won't be a huge disappointment if only a few kids show up.

I hate that your party didn't go so well- that would suck after spending all that money- not to mention the kids disappointment when there friends didn't show up. As for the limo- I tend to agree about it being overboard but the Laser tag thing is really something that he wants to do and we can do it for him- so we really want to do that. My mom suggested just renting another van and going that way, my dad said ask to use the church van (it would hold everyone in one vechile- so that's a thought). Thanks so much for responding- you always have great advice. So what do you think about just renting a van or using the church van? Do those sound over the top? Thanks for responding!!

I think renting a van or using the church van would be a good idea. It's just the thought of a limo that seems over the top. I hope it all works out well for you, and hope he enjoys his party.

I think you'll be giving your son one of the best birthday blasts ever! The whole package sounds amazing and to think that he can choose 10 of his best buds makes it even better. The limo sounds cool to - they can get exhausted on the trip to and fro just by goofing around :D Make sure he brings a sturdy camera with him! Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Well he likes the idea a lot and you know he'll only turn 12 once and that is why we want to do this for him. He is such a good kid and works so hard with school and all his extras that we thought this would be a good way to show him how proud we are of all his hard work. Thanks for responding.
