Are You Right-handed or Left-handed?

I am a right-handed person. My daughter is also right-handed, but I have noticed my 2 year old son uses his left hand more than his right. I've heard people say before that most left-handed people are more talented. I don't think which had you use plays into that, but I guess some may believe so. Are you right-handed, left-handed, or can you use both your hands?

When I was young, I was left-handed. But in my elementary school days, I had to learn writing with the right hand. Teachers would not tolerate writing with the right hand, I don't know why. Perhaps writing with the left had, for them, some political significance. Perhaps they feared left-handed people, since physically "leftist", could easily become denizens of the political left? I still don't know what my teachers were thinking or why they forced me to learn writing with the right hand. At any rate, I now write with my right hand but use my left hand for tasks that need accuracy or force. This "ambidexterity" has made me clumsy. I drop things because I thought my right or left hand or both have gripped a thing firmly, only to find out that I was wrong with the thing bouncing or broken on the floor. That's why I don't wash dishes. After a few days some new sets have to be bought. This situation has some compensations. I tend to anticipate - thought not all the time - even my slightest moves so that in case I slip or drop something or what due to my clumsiness, then I could make counter-moves. That tends to make me plan and view things (the macro and the nitty-gritty) against a wider vista, gives me patience and tolerance for mistakes - up to a point.

Oh thats interesting I find that being a lefty is a blessing in disguise, because I can do things as a lefty that I dont think I would have been able to do if I was born right handed, I can do things like draw sculpt and knit without the use of needles and a lot people on my dads side are left handed, and he can play guitar and piano and other instruments as a lefty, and my uncle is left handed and he plays the drums really well so for me being a left handed person is truly a blessing.

I do tend to over-analyze though, to over-anticipate, to over-plan and over-strategize, sometimes to go into details, and to over-organize. It detracts me from life's simple pleasures. So I am trying to break the habit, but it's very difficult.

Well, I am left handed, and I have one sister who is also left handed. Then there was my Mom and Dad who were right handed, and one sister and brother and my husband who is right handed as well. For me, I feel that there are some unique qualities with each person, and not just which hand you write with. Many times it comes down to how open a person might be to New ideas as well. For me, I consider myself very Creative, and friendly to all most of the time as well. I have aspiring dreams to become a Published author, and I also Love to draw and be creative. My husband is a go-getter of sorts but not the creative type as well, so it could be something with our hands, but not sure if that makes much of a difference or not. But then again, who really stops to think about it as well?

Well, since you asked, I am a lefty. My mother who was a school principal trained me to use my right hand to write. Its was quite a struggle but if you have a mom who is very strong willed and would not take no for an answer, you will definitely learn to write with your right hand. However, aside from writing with my right hand, she could never teach me to work with my right hand. She was frustrated so she stopped trying when I was about seven years old. From then on, I became a fullfledge lefty! And you know what, I like it that way. :)

im left handed and although i hate to admit it i dont think that it matters whether you're right or left handed to tell if you're smart or not. knowledge is brought on from learning, and learning is a choice.. you can only learn if you WANT to learn. i dont think it's genetic

i am a right-handed person too... i don't think there can be any distinction on the basis of wt hand a person uses abt his mind skill... but i hav read some articles that a person who uses both hands is a bit superior than the others.. cuz our moments depend on our brain and they can use both lobes of their brain equally as compared to ones using one...

Everyone in my house except for my oldest son is right handed. When my son was little I noticed he was using his left hand most of the time and even had family members trying to tell me to make him stop because he would be treated different for it in school. Of course I never listened to them and to this day he does everything except bat a baseball left handed. For some odd reason when he bats he does it right handed. He is talented in sports but doesn't seem to be more so than anyone else who spends a lot of time doing them.

I am left handed and my sister is too. I can use my right hand when I really need to but she was always hopeless when it came to using her right had. She bought all the gadgets she could for left handed people. She even tried knitting the opposite way - now that was hilarious. When I used to bowl (ten pin bowling) I used my right hand. I have tried writing with it but that was a total waste of time. Other than writing I just go about my day and use whichever hand feels the most comfortable. None of my 3 children are left handed and neither one of my parents were left handed. Where it came from with my sister and I we don't have a clue.

I don't think handedness is actually determinable by genetics. But--yes, left handed people are perceived to be more talented because they use the right side of the brain more, and the right side holds the artistic parts. I think I'm one of the lucky few [I'm the only one in our family, for sure] that is left-handed. I felt more comfy using it back when I was in nursery school. So, I'm still using it up to today. As for talent, yeah, maybe they're right about that. My parents are mystified with how I come I sing/draw/play the piano, whereas no one was musical in our family. So, it's cool. Now, if only our campus made left-handed chairs.

I'm right-handed although i used to be left-handed until my mother made me use my right hand to write. She said it will be easier for me. I use my left hand a lot for other things besides writing and i wasn't aware of it til my friends asked if i was left-handed. Left-handers are not necessarily more intelligent than right-handers, and vice versa, but there will probably be differences in strong points as we exercise one of our two brain hemispheres more regularly. I used to assume kids are naturally left-handers until someone change their habit.

I am right-handed but my husband is left-handed so I asked him why. He told me he doesn't know. All he knew is that when he started learning to write he was already using his left hand. They said that left-handed people are intelligent and creative. I am right-handed and I was a consistent salutatorian when I was is elementary, consistent valedictorian when I went to secondary and a cumlaude when I graduated in college so I think there is no excuse if you want to be an intelligent person. Four out of five original Macintosh computer designers were left-handed, as well as one out of four Apollo astronauts. One in ten of the world's population is left-handed. Men are 1.5 times more prone to left-handedness than women are, while information also states there is a tendency for one of a pair of twins to be left-handed. Left-handers differ from right-handed people just by preferring to use their left hand for various activities like reaching for things, throwing, showing and catching. A really interesting question is whether there is any connection between left handed people and creative genius. Some of history's most creative minds have been left-handed.

I ma a left handed person. This is not true left handed are more talented than right handed it is purely scientific when your left brain is more active youe use your right hand and it is vice versa for the left hand it doesn't matter which hand you use.

well, certainly right-handed I am. I used to practise getting sth. by my left-hand but failed and feel uncomfortable. I think it's really hard for me to use my left hand doing things coz I am used to use my right hand. but one of my friends is left-handed and no matter what he do he just use his left hand. there's a thing that when a right-handed and a left-handed person are sit together to have a meal, they never interfere each other

I am right handed, all in my family are right handed, most of my friends are right handed. I heard that left handed people are more smart than right handed. But I think whether you are smart depends on you learning hard or not.
