Can we remain students for all times ????

Student is an everlasting term to me.....When do we start to be a student? Is it when we begin our school for the first time ?...Or is it when our thoughts begin to see reason ??... When do we cease to be a student any more ??....Is it when we leave school or graduate or enter a job ??.... How long is the span of being a student ????? Well,I personally feel that one can remain a student as long as one wishes to,as long as one's thirst for knowing the unknown remains. ......Do you think this is possible????....Do you think we can be a student at all ages of life ??? I await your responses.

Hi! Here in Mexico people use to say that you learn something new everyday, so you never stop being a student. Hope it helps.

I think that being a student is a life long process... an opportunity, a right. I personally think that we are students all our lives. From the moment we are born, we learn to open our eyes, we learn to cry when we feel hungry, we learn to respond to things. We are students not only at school but in life itself... and learning does not end when we get out of school. As a matter of fact, I believe that even if we tell ourselves that we don't want to learn anymore, it can never happen. Life is our school, experience is our teacher, we are students, and the only time when we will graduate is I guess the time that we will die.

I like the way that you put that. I know on my last job I would train a lot of new employees, and I kind of thought of them as my students and liked to see how well they performed afterwards. And there were jobs where I had mentors, or people that I would go to for help or advise. I guess in some sense I was their student. Personally, I wished I could afford to go to school for the rest of my life. There is so much to learn. I still try to learn each and every day. Thanks for starting this discussion, and have a great day!

Well, a "student" is just a technical term you use when you're still attending education institutes. I agree with you, learning is a lifelong thing and we gain knowledge as we grow older and experience more. It's a great thing and inspirational, and it's probably what we live for; to know more. So yes, in your words, we are lifelong students.

Being a student is an everlasting term to me too.. We start being a student not just in school, not in kindergarten, not in pre-school, also not s on that day we started to say mama. education started when you were still in your mom's bosoms. ant it not ended in college nor on had a masters degree or on having a doctorate degree. but it will ended when our brain ceases to function.

Hi titansaha, You are right in your thinking we are students all of our life, from the moment we feel loved, have our hunger satisfied etc. We continue to be students until the moment we leave this earth and hopefully even beyond that. Thanks for this discussion. Blessings.

Hi, Your thought is really cool and correct. I do agree with your opinion that we are students of our life time. It doesn't mean that , only when we study in school, we are named as students..! In school days, we learnt all the fundamentals, basics.. In college we enhanced our liked career, there also we were called students, rather in a polish way, we were called professionals . So all these words, students, professionals, etc can be put together in a nut shell and we can name it as LEARNER. That will be very apt. They have similar meanings... only the words are different. We learn new things each and every minute. That will help us in enhancement. Thanks for this valuable discussion..Take care:)

We already be student when we was born and until we die. As you can see, In Indonesia 5 years old kid can't talk and understand the Tamil language other than kid in India with the same age, because they learn different language after was born.

I do agree with you, titansaha. For us chinese, there is a saying that goes, as long as you are alive, you learn. Everyday we are bound to learn something. It may be in terms of studies, knowledge, or a lesson in life. Your discussion reminds me of a friend that i know who seems to love studying more compared to working like any other person. After getting a degree, he went and did his masters. And after only working half a year, he decided to pursue his phD. He never fail to amaze me. He does not need to worry about finances as there are sponsors and he said after his studies he is bonded to a company where he will be doing research for the company. Well, i guess the working life is not suitable for him. What do you all think?

yes you can stay a student for all times. you just need some rich parents that pay all your years in university or you need a good paid job, cause you won't have much time to work. if you work and read books at home you aren't a student to me, but you get smarter anyway.

In fact, all our lifes are learning as students, no matter if it is in school and society, both are the good places to learn new things. If you want to be a student all ages of your life, you maybe somewhat want to avoid to go to work and communicate with society, maybe you are worrying about your job and worrying to be a member of society, you need to spend so much time to learn the skill to work and communicate......., you are afraid of? Becase as a student, your main job is learning and no need to consider to live with your own ability and to earn money, but the reality is it's impossible for one to be student alwasy sitting in the school, you need to go to work to fill your experience for living and at the same time, you can also learn many more than knowledge besides your subject. Do not be afraid of society, it's a good place to take exercise in life. Come on!

We are all students at all times. It started when he first got our sense. Everything in life is a continious learning. We learn bad or even good for it on an everyday basis. We may not be a student literally when we finish our degree in college but in life, till we die, we are all students..

well, honestly, i was pretty pissed off at being a student in primary school, until i realised even adults have their own problems. i guess every age has its own attractions. they say that the grass is always greener on the other side. a lot of adulst do study for their phd or other courses when they are in their middle ages, so i guess it is possible to be studying and learning throughout your entire life.
