I'm still getting used to 2009. How about you? How's 2009 been for you so far?

It's been a mix of good and not so good. I lost my temp-to-hire job that I thought I'd get on permanently with, but now I don't have to deal with icy streets and roads. I was getting a little overtired, anyway. I'm starting the new year with a healthy savings account, too, because of that job! I guess, come to think of it, that's the only rotten thing that's happened so far and it was a mixed blessing so I'll change my mind and say 2009 has had a terrific beginning!

...AND THE AWARD FOR THE MOST TERRIFIC START TO THE YEAR GOES TO... Sounds like it definitely worked out for you! So, where do you go from here - what do you plan on doing?

I'm sure there are temp assignments out there with your name all over it! They just don't know it yet :-) You never know, you might get enough internet writing gigs to not need to get a temp job. You just never know. All the very best.

I'm going to hope for some more temporary assignments. In the meantime, I will concentrate on my internet writing, surveys, myLot and other things I can do to add to my income. It'll be a great year! I hope yours is, too!

It has been cold. other than that there has really been much of a change. I have correctly put the date on everything that I needed to so that is a good thing. Otherwise things are going along pretty smoothly with no real surprises. I do hope it warms up though as the heating bills won't be cheap this month.

It's bloody freezing over here too (England)! Great that you have yourself organised in terms of dates and that things are ticking over well for you. Do you have a central system for heating? Could you perhaps turn down the heating a tiny notch and put on an extra sweater/socks to save on costs? In any case, wishing you a FAB 2009. take care...

Thanks for asking. Tiring and it didn't start out that way. I went home for New Years because due to the snow, I couldn't go at Christmas. I had a good time and was raring to go when I got home. I arrived the Monday after New Years. I had some last Christmas deliveries, to people from my home town. Turned out, that's when things suddenly changed. All of a sudden I have a million places to go and things to do, that all had nothing to do with the plans that I had for myself for the New Year but for other people and also last minute family functions. I was traveling again, cooking, cleaning, running errands and helping others with their tasks. I am so tired it is not funny. Not the way I had planned to get off to a New Year in 2009. I didn't have any real pressing plans mind you but I did have a vision I was looking forward to follow, to bring in my New Year on a positive self fulfilling foot, so to speak. Oh well, I guess I can try and make it come together this week. At least before the end of the month. Thank you for your post and hows it going for you? I have had no problem making sure I write 2009 in all correspondence as well as banking stuff, like checks. It's like it's been 2009 for sometime, in that department. How about you? Have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year and thanks again for this discussion. Cheers!

It is not a bad year as I am looking forward to a lot of new things that have not happened. A new year means new beginning and new routines. I'm sure I can get a hang of it but I don't know about others.

Hey, Glad you're looking forward to what the year has to bring. On New Year's Day, in its first few minutes, my thoughts and heart went out to all those who didn't make it through. I wish you a safe, healthy, exciting and successful 2009. take care...

Please don't apologise. That's how you feel. I have this image of you picking up a bucket of flourescent paint and splashing it against a wall. The wall represents 'sameness'. The paint represents 'change'. And you're going 'AAAAHHHHHHHHHH' running towards the wall in slow motion. By the time you're done, the wall is covered in your own beautiful self-validated graffiti. Then you walk away with the sun sitting on your left shoulder. take care...

I started out absolutely pumped about 2009. Now I'm back into the swing and wondering when things ARE actually going to change...lol.

"when things ARE actually going to change"... I hear you. I can relate. I felt more enthused when Obama won than I do about the New Year. The day after he won, I felt I could do ANYTHING. But that feeling's kinda withered away. When are things actually going to change? I think that's up to us, isn't it? take care...

Sometimes things seem like they're stalling or not moving fast enough, like waiting for eggs to boil. And then, in the blink of an eye, while you're not looking, while you take your mind off it and busy yourself with other things, hey presto, the eggs are boiled!

I think I've only had to write down the date a couple of times so far this year and each time I've thought, 'Wow, it's 2009'. I'll probably get used to the new year by the end of the month...or February...or December! Writing down '10' as a year is gonna be really weird, don't you think? Glad that your 'so far' has been good :-) take care now...
