I hardly ever use this word. Because growing up it always meant NO. But it just prolonged it. It shut me up without hurting my feelings. I use to ask to go to the movies or anywhere and my Dad would say" Maybe. I'll let you know." Then like 5 minutes before the movie was suppose to start he would always say "It is too late to go now." Like I asked two hours ago. He knew that if he told me no that I would be upset and start an argument and probably by the time it started he would be so tired of hearing me he would take me and happily throw me out of the car. But since he did not want me going in the first place he would say "Maybe." So, I rarely use this word because to me it just means NO!! So what does maybe mean to you? Or did your parents use words like maybe or we might or we'll see in this manner?

It seems a good way to avoid conflict between you and your parents when you were young in their opinion, but it does not work now, for too long you have feel sad on this word, just as no, To me, maybe is something, which can not be sure whether will happen Is my express any mistakes, please pioint it out if there is, I am a child in English

My mom siad no. Maybe meant maybe. Most of the time, yes but sometimes no. She would really think it over, but if she was against something it was no. I try to use yes or no more. Sometimes, I say no to people too quick, because I hate to say maybe and not be able to do something. However, I use maybe for if I am not sure but moreso when it's more possibly yes.
