What exotic pets interest you?

Today many animals are becoming domesticated that may no longer fit the "exotic" category. People have ferrets, rodents, fish, birds, dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. It seems that there is a thinning line between the boundary of domestic pets and exotic. Reptiles have always interested me, and my favorite animal happens to be the komodo dragon. It is so intriguing that it seems it would be an extraordinary exotic creature to domesticate in the proper environment. Are there any exotic animals that interest you regarding domestication?

I remember finding it really funny that rats are considered to be "exotic" when categorised by vets. I would rather like some kind of reptile as a pet, like a water dragon or chameleon, but as I don't have the expertise to keep one, it's not something I'd consider, at least not without a lot of research, and the backup of someone that knows what they're doing, so I can turn to them with questions.

Man I want a water dragon too, but for the same reason as you I still have not gotten one. I would rather learn more about them before seriously considering buying one.

I'd personally love to have an avairy with a lot of beautiful birds exotic or not. One I'd have without a doubt in it is a peacock. I love peacocks. I'm fortunate that living where I do, I have ring neck pheasants, quail, wild turkeys on and around my property all the time. My neighbors have a pond next door and during spring and fall migration I see all kinds of great birds. Ducks, geese, heron. While I wouldn't mind having an aviary I don't have any desire to have a bird in a small cage inside my house.

That sounds really nice =] Peacocks are beautiful! Birds are so interesting I really don't like seeing them in cages either

Really, the only animal I have ever really thought about that isn't a "standard" pet that I would like to have would be a big cat. Any big cat would be cool but if I could choose any of them I'd probably pick a panther. I read about panthers as spirit animals and, in that context, they are very similar to me. I don't know how those kinds of descriptions compare to the real animals but it sounded good to me

That sounds interesting. I think felines are one of the most interesting species around. They're so inquisitive, yet they can fend for themselves with their cleverness.
