Is Change Really a Good Thing.........

........or does it just create confusion? I just noticed that there is a panel running down the right hand side of my screen here on the lot that has excerpts from 'similar discussion' in it. Is this new, or am I losing my peripheral vision? Are there any other new changes here I should know about? Hasn't anyone told mylot admin. that us old geezers don't do well with change!? LOL

Sparks, it has been there for as long as I've been here. Hey, and I'm an 'old geezer', I guess! You have probably been more intent on reading the discussions and replying or writing than you have to paying attention to the right side of your monitor. However, I don't know how you have missed it for so long. Maybe the vision is slipping a little?

I remember now, that they used to be at the bottom of the page, and the excerpts on the right are longer than they used to be when they were on the bottom, so I guess it is a change mylot made. But damn, it fooled me, and yes, I'll have to get my eyes checked now!

You know kitty, you have a very good point there actually. That could be why they moved them to the side.......easier (in theory anyway) to see them instead of scrolling to the bottom first which we know NOBODY does! lol The problem with that logic though is, you don't see them until AFTER you've posted your own! ROFL

Change can sometimes make for a good & confusing bout of uncontrollable laughter. One time, I went to pick up a friend of mine, but in a different car - same make & model, but different color. She asked me if i had gotten a new car. I replied, "I've always driven this model. That was true, but it really was not the same car. I had her thinking that she was losing her mind, because the previous car was grey, with a maroon interior. The car I was using was white with a blue interior. I kept insisting that the car was always white, & the interior was always blue. At least this was not one of those where I needed the virtually-non-existant will to keep myself from laughing, because I was able to say that I was laughing at/with her. After I finally admitted that it was a different car, she told everyone what I did, & for a while, people were unable to look at me without laughing. It does seem that MyLot has changed a lot, many of those changes being what people did NOT want. I was the one who came up with the term, "downgrade." Speaking of us geezers, when was the last time you had a fresh pterodactyl egg? It was a long time ago since I last had one.

Chicken eggs are WAAAYYY too easy to get. Quail eggs make a nice change of pace every so often, but they're so small. Duck eggs are OK when wanting something else other than chicken eggs. I have not tried a goose egg, & I have not seen any turkey eggs at all. One bad change is that today's pterodactyl eggs are really nothing more than mere rocks. They may not be edible, but they probably would be a handy weapon. Well, the hair colors seem to be stereotypical, such as what you pointed out about redheads, & the internet being flooded with all kinds of blond jokes.

LOL, think it was at breakfast this morning, now that I'm using chicken eggs as part of my beauty routine..................don't ask! LOL When my hubs and I were first dating, I was managing a restaurant. He would come in every day and I would show him to his table and serve him personally. He always called me blondie, because as he told me later, he was color blind. I appreciated it though because as a red head, I got a lot of crap from male customers, like: "Oh don't tick her off boys, she's a redhead. You know what spitfires they are!" or "Hey Red, I'll bet you could show me a good time between the sheets eh?" Not to mention these Neanderthals thinking that because redheads were supposedly 'easy', it was ok to paw me everywhere. I hated it! But had to smile and take it, as the customer is always right, don't you know! So having the soon to be hubs calling me blondie and treating me with respect was a blessing. It wasn't until after we were married that he told me, yeah he's color blind, but he'd known I was a redhead all along! Damn the man fooled me! Here I thought he was a gentleman and it turned out he was having a big joke at my expense! Good thing I have a sense of humor.........lol

I never pay any attention to the sidebar. I guess I just think they have always been there, shows you how aware I am. Mostly, when I do look the "matching" discussions are so inane as to not make sense. For example one of the discussions that match this one is "How to roll Change". Now why does that make sense; or is it cents?

LOL! These discussions are linked by the key words in the tags on them. But I do agree, and actually find it amusing some of the 'similar' discussions that show up. See? NOW I'm paying attention! ROFL

Prior to the last upgrade it appeared at the bottom of the page. Then it got mmoved to the side. Shame that similar discussions only show up after we post ours and not always in the searchbar By 'old geezers' you mean those that participate less?

LOL By old geezers, I mean those of us with gray hair, a pronounced stoop, often a cane or a walker, and obviously, bad memories! LOL

Hey sparky! I'm not sure what you're taling about? I don't know if I have seen it or if it is new or if I just don't pay attention to it! And yes, I certainly don't take changes too well at all! But, I really don't think that mylot would give a rats azz! It takes me forever to get used to something and then someone goes and changes it and am so lost! And by the time I figure it out they go and change it again! Why do they do this kind of thing to us older people? Don't they know that this just isn't right?

Spark, I take heart in that some others have far more changes than me - the hanging, etc! But my vision hasn't gotten bad enough that I don't notice such things. Hey, if I didn't notice, my husband would be sure and let me know.

First, welcome to the lot mikkymyde. And second: I would suggest you read the whole discussion before you respond so that your comments address the issue raised in the discussion itself, ok? But I do get your meaning about Obama, even though I'm just a lowly Canadian! LOL

I know what you mean. I'd forgotten too, how time consuming it is to keep on top of discussions when you've got responses coming in to more than one at a time. I can't remember the last time I spent a WHOLE day here like I have today. Time to feed myself and toddle off to bed I think. Hugs sweets.

This has probably been answered, but yes, that side bar has been there since they made the major changes earlier this year. Those related discussions used to be at the bottom where we didn't see them unless we wanted to. Now they have been thrust upon us to make others' discussions more noticeable on discussion topics we actually have an interest in. (At least, I assume that's why they did it.)
