Personally I have only drove for about 9 hours at a time. I do this every few months to go home and visit my family. How often do you take a long road trip? Where do you go? How long does it take you? How long do you go for?

Hi Keely, I dont do regular driving marathons....but, we did go on a trip a couple of years back. We drove from the North of England to Central Portugal, catching the ferry to go over the channel. That took us all the way through France and across the top of Spain totalling about 25 hours of driving. We did sleep on the ferry....and we did sleep on the French Motorway going down there (this is very common in France and also very safe) It was a fantastic trip. We didnt rush too much as we just wanted to enjoy the scenery and stuff. I guess on the way back was better because as we neared Paris I said to my hunny bunny....shall we have a drive round and see if we can see the Eiffel tower? LOL...I forgot it was Saturday night AND a major city.....Paris traffic is MAD!! lol Anyway...somehow we managed to more or less go straight to the Tower and find a space to park right next to it......It really was quite surreal, that there we were stood under the Tower at 10 o'clock Saturday night :) Its the longest I have driven anywhere......I wouldnt like to do it too often but it was great fun...a real adventure :-))

I'm not really sure as my parents used to take me on quite a few when I was little. After my parents divorced I didn't go on so many, but I did go on a rather long one when I was teenager. All the way from the Bay Area to Las Vegas. I don't remember how long it took, but I mapquested it and it estimated 8 hours 32 minutes. It wasn't a straight drive though. We (my dad, sister, and step mom, or soon to be then) stopped off in Los Angeles to stay the night at one of my step mother's relatives. We took off from there and continued our journey. I don't remember, but I think we stayed a couple of days in Vegas. I haven't been on a road trip in years. The last time I took one was 16 years ago! I'm such a homebody! LOL

A year last November, my son and I left Vancouver at midnite, drove straight thru to Cranbrook (over 3 mountain passes)...arrived 13 hours later, loaded his truck, & hooked up to a trailer, had 1 1/2 hrs sleep, drove back to Vancouver, caught the Ferry to Nanaimo, unload the truck & trailer there, drove to Victoria & caught the ferry back to the Island where I live! In total, we were gone 60 hours and had an hour & a half sleep! Two WILD experiences on the trip, we pulled over at a Truck stop on the way up....bathroom break, he outside one side of truck, me the other and we were immediately surrounded by Wolves. Good thing, I had finished, cuz I sure would have wet myself! On the way back, we pulled over at same truck stop (Osoyoos) thinking we would try & nap...just nodding off when there was scratching at both windows....only for both of us to jerk awake, and stare a Cougar in the face! He blew his air-horn and we made a hasty departure! Thank goodness, we had NOT got out to go bathroom! The other part of the trip that was a bit scary, is that the roads were winter condition....and we only encountered 11 vehicles on the drive up! We both stayed awake, drinking coffee, and the Herbal Energy Jolts! Sure was glad when that was over!

I don't really recall how long it was, but I once went from St. Louis, MO, down through Paducah, KY, and all the way to Gatlanburg, TN. I am guessing around 8 hours.
