The reason why i ask is my friend has been out of work for two months. She has bills to pay. She says she is desperate but when i ask her why not try mcdonalds she refuses that. I worked at mcdonalds a couple of years ago before having a child. Times are getting rough and if it came to that i would certainly go work there. I just don't see what the big deal is. Can someone explain? Would you work there and if not why? Is it something you would be embarrassed of ? To me i would be happy i am making money and not complain on what i am doing.

I definitely will. That's a decent job and there's nothing to be ashamed of it. I remember when I was still on my student days, I used to apply for those food chain. I was able to be hired by KFC but I did not pursue since I became a tutor. Maybe your friend is underestimating the salary of the crew? Are you talking about that position? Maybe she's thinking that the salary won't be enough and there would be lot of hardwork. Or maybe she thinks she has more skills that she may be able to use to apply to other company. Because that's what I would think when you'll ask me that question at this moment. I am already working at home by just using the computer so why get out and do the hardwork? There are lots of possible reasons why she said that. Maybe she doesn't mean something offensive or undermining.

Some of it may be related to salary. She is also the lazy type so she rather have a job that is more simple. There is also another reason but its hard to explain. I just feel though why not work there temporarily untill finding something more permanent.

If she is so desperate then why doesn't she accept a job in mcdonald's? its a decent job, maybe she won't earn that much but as least she will have some money to buy food and pay some bills. I don't mind working for a food chain, in fact, when I was younger, I even asked my mom is I could work at mcdonald's for the summer. She wouldn't let me though, since we have our own business to take care of. If I didn't have so much bills to pay, I would happily settle for a crew job than the one I have now so that I can get rid of all this stress

I feel the same way that you do on the subject. I used to work at Burger King. It's just a job, nothing to be ashamed of.

Hi jess, if I had to choose I wouldn't work in fast food chains but not because I find it shameful. It's just that I'm not that keen on fast food, and wouldn't imagine myself doing such a routine job, where you do the same thing over and over again. Apart from that, I really don't like the idea of smelling fried oil for all those working hours. I prefer more challenging jobs where I can work on my own initiative. However, if I happen to be short of money I would think otherwise and accept any kind of job as long as it is decent.
