Any tips for adding features to my blog

I wanted to make my blog really interesting aside from making great articles. As I see other blogs, they have many features on them, different widgets which make their sites even more interesting to read. How and where are they getting all these features and how can I add them to my own?

I think there are many ways to get widgets. I have a few on my blog and their are a few things that I have on my blog but there are soem things that I am going to use if I see them available. I am not into blogging too much at this time.
