Would you like to live forever?

We have always seen movies about people wanting to live forever. Searching for something that could give them eternal life. When people have disease or get sick naturally they would buy medicine just to make sure that they get well. This is obviously natural, the will to live the will to survive. If given the chance, would you like to live forever? In my case, I think I would not want that. If this happens I would be living on different generations watching every person that I love, and every person that I will love pass away. I think this would make my life miserable. So I think what is best is just to live a normal life and be content with what God will give me in my lifetime. What about you?

I guess we are on the saem boat. If we live forever, who will we share it with when everyone we love will die later on. I guess it would be so painful all the time. But if such the one we love and care for would also live forever, then I think I would go for such. Best regards.

No I do not want to live forever and in fact think that is selfish for anyone to think that way. If everyone lived forever where will they live? Where will they get food and eater from? Land is something that we cannot just create and already there are countries which are massively overpopulated, without increasing that number. Given the chice between living forever myself and not living so that there is food and water for my children and grandchildren is not hard to decide. Personally I only want to live for as long as I have my faculties and can do things for myself. Even if for some reason I was in a wheelchair which would give me moblity as long as my arms work would be okay. At least I would be able to wash and dress myself plus feed myself, think and kep my brain active,e ven ifi the body is a bit slow. However I would not want to live if I had dementia or Alzheimer's as they are terrible conditions for anyone to have. Also those people soon become totally dependant on others for everything and there is no dignity for them, even if they don't realise it themselves. I believe that when my time living on this earth is up, that is it and I have no real say in when that time will come.

It is one of those things which has always amazed me when people say they want to live forever. At me age the children already see me as "ancient" and that view will no doubt not improve in future years. So I live life and enjoy it fully and do not intentionally harm anyone else but when my time comes to depart this world, that is it folks.

Another good point that you have brought out oldboy. I agree with you that they may not be enough for all of us if many will live forever. I also agree with you that if we can no longer take care of ourselves, what is the point in living when we will only be a burden to the ones we love. Great thoughts and thanks for sharing your input.

It would be nice if we can live forever with our love ones, but that would sort of defeat the purpose of living. I believe the opposite of living is dying and if everyone lives forever, there will be more disasters, I'm sure. Because humans tend to kill each other at war and trying to find fault. And if there is such a thing as living forever, people at loggerheads will end up trying to kill one another and repeating the process until never-end. The world is very sick right now with lots of misery and the green environment is also not so green so much nowadays. I feel that sometimes with family members and close friends dying, there is a very passing moment in each although the memories make us feel so sad. Life feels more meaningful because we will be forced to accept the fact that our love ones won't be around forever and we will try out best to cherish one another the best that we can. Good discussion here...

Very well said, my friend.. Life is definitely filled with ups and downs but it is quite worth it when you are happy and achieve a bit, all the hard work totally pays off.. I love my life, and try to make the best out of it, like everyone else too..

Well said there zed. I do agree with you that living forever thus have its advantages but they also have their disadvantages. The meaning in life would be lost should someone will be able to live without dying. Perhaps this is the reason that each one will pass away so that we will be able to live our life with meaning and we should live our life to the fullest.

If it is my physical body, I would not want to live forever because the physical body deteriorates as it aged. If I would live forever with my physical body, i just can't imagine how I woud look like. It is best to live forever if it is our soul. The soul do not deteriorate and on the contrary, it improves and evolve through the ages. It is also best to live forever in the Kingdom of the Almighty God.

Point well taken watarikenji. Our body does deteriorate and we would end up like an old car getting stuck in the middle of the road. So I guess it would not be nice to be in such situation. The important thing is to accept life as it is and do whatever we can to make life important by helping others and fulfilling our purpose as a servant of God.

That's true :) and if you think about it, the world is also deteriorating. even if we say that our physical bodies don't age (just pretend with me), the earth that we're living in is deteriorating as we speak, so i really can't imagine what the world would be like after another century. So I'd say that I'd have to agree with you watarikenji when you said that it's best to live forever in the Kingdom of the Almighty God because His Kingdom will never grow old :)

Hahahaha, I see. Well, there are so many things that we want and later on find out that we really dont want it at all. I guess when we become mature we will determine which is which, just like what you have realized. I think that you really love your husband. I have just a perfect song for you... I dont know if you have seen the "Wedding Singer" If in case you did, I am sure you have heard the song "Grow Old With You". If you have not seen it yet, then you should. Best to you and your hubby.

Nicely put, I agree. I used to want to die for a long time. I still don't want to live forever. But, I have learned to except to be content with what God gives me in my lifetime. (most of the time, hahaha!) Life can be great, but you have to work on it. hahaha! When you find a purpose in life, life is more fun. Take care.

In ancient India our saints were able to live up to 1500 years by correcting the genes. Recently the scientists have found out that by correcting genes and DNA stuff man can live up to 1500 years. Yes I want to live if I can stay young. I don't want to live as an old man beung a burden to others, it is better to die than to be depending on some one, lol.

I wouldn't want to think that I can live forever. It somehow reduces the meaning of life - its importance. I think that one of the greatest thing about life is that it is a fleeting. If we can live forever, then why would today be any different from tomorrow? What would encourage us to "make this time matter"? It wouldn't be as exciting as knowing that you only have a limited time in order to do a few things - which is why commitment is also a wonderful concept in such a short lifetime. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Well, we have to accept that fact that life is not eternal. We would always find the end of life later on. The important thing is how we live our life and what good things we can do as we live our life. Knowing the purpose of our life and fulfilling such task is more important than living forever without accomplishing anything.

If given a chance I really don't like to live forever. I'ts because I really can stand each and everyone of my love ones pass away. If I live forever a day will come that I will lonely. It is best to live our life in the best way that we can.

I think you are making the right decision. What good is life when there is no one there to share with. Meaning when you are alone since all your love ones are already gone. Life is great and wonderful but life would be nothing without someone to share it with.

Nice query, the thought itself makes me scare to live forever.LOL.. I would still choose to live the life of God given time, spend it with substance each moment, with that i don't think i need forever. It's too boring if it will happen.

Personally I enjoy living, and Love my life even with all of it's flaws and such, but I cannot imagine myself living forever. As I have a lot of medical issues and am on Insulin, etc. for Diabetes I would hate to really have to do this for another couple hundred yrs. Yes, my life is for the most part going really well at this time, but I find it is best to let it just take it's course, and when it is my turn to go home, hopefully it will be worth it all as well.

Hi there KrauseHome, I understand the situation. When I was still working with the ambulance service I have a lot of diabetic patients. Well, the important thing is always to watch what you eat and of course discipline. I wish you good life ahead and less of the flaws. It may not be as perfect as we want it to be, but if we accept it as is, we can still enjoy. So best to you and your family....

No way I am 28 and already have issues with my back imagine having that forever. Even if they made you age less the problems of wear and tear of the body will still be there. And I dont want to outlive my kids and everyone that I know I think I would be very lonely and sad cat lady :)))

Hi violeta, you are truly right indeed. The wear and tear has to be considered. I am 36 years old and have back pains to. I worked for the rescue unit for 13 years and somehow the weight of the patients that I have carried has taken its toll. I think I would end up complaining all the time of back pains if I am gonna live forever. Well, thank you very much for the input and sharing your opinion. I hope your back will be fine. Best regards!

honestly, the thought of dying does scare me. If only we ALL were given the chance to live forever, I would want to live forever. But the thing is I don't wanna stay alive while everyone around me are going away one by one. So if God would rain down gift of immortality, I don't wanna be drenched alone.

The only way that I would want to live forever would be if everyone that I love, was immortal as well. If not like you, I wouldn't be able to live forever watching the people that I love die. What is the point of living forever if you are alone?

Right crivas, what is the point. As they say, "no man is an islan". We need someone to share our life with, our success, our happiness and of course our sadness. So there is really no point in living if the ones we live for are no longer there. Best to you!

I agree with you jpso138 abouth not wanting to live forever. I think that living forever is not a good idea and will not give me peace of mind especially when i am the only one who can have that kind of life. Others may say otherwise since they wanted to watch maybe how the world will change but for me, its very tiring. Having eternal life without the loved ones that you have is very empty.
@jpso138 (7851)

yes, life would be empty indeed. For what good are the riches and the things that you have when there is no one to share it with. Of course it would be great to witness things in the future, but this is only temporary happiness. So you will end up feeling sad for the rest of the living days.

i don't want to live forever, but i want to live 100 years.having eternal life will pose burden for the society.if every one lives forever, the earth must explode i think.there must be one day there is no water, food,no enough space for all the people to enjoy.
