Are you computer savvy or just know enough to get by?

I am definately not computer savvy even though I have some sort of a tendency to figure things out. To be truthful I am not very technologically inclined. I do not care much about the latest phones or the latest tech features. I just learn to use these if the need arises. I dont need the latest phone just a good phone. I do not get overly excited about these things the way my friends and siblings do. How about you? Are you computer savvy and find that you get excited about the latest technological gadgets and features? Or Are you contented to just learn enough to get by?

When I was younger I was fairly computer savvy. Now though there are so many new techonologies that I have no need to keep up with. My cell phone is basic and my computer is basic. Some of my friends know so much about computers and new things coming out everyday it makes my head spin. Granted, im not completely clueless and can troubleshoot certain problems that arise, but only from experience and having someone come over here and show me how to do it in the first place. No I do not go out and buy the newest thing available. I am constantly amazed at the gadgets they have been coming up with and even a little scared of it. I think if they can do that now what are they gonna be doing 5 years from now, and what do they have that we don't know about (lol a little paranoid I guess).

If some of those high-tech shows dipicting the future is anything to go by the future will be taken over by machines fighting against the human race for supremacy . Imagine all those gadgets coming to reality... I certainly hope not .

I've been using computes since 1984, but there are a lot of things (recent technology) that I'm absolutely clueless about. I don't have the interest, nor the ambition to get all the latest and greatest gadgets to learn about them and use them. I'm happy with what I have. If something that looks useful for work or for home piques my interest, then I'll reconsider.

I am about middle of the road I guess. I know a little about them, but I would certainly like to learn more. I really want to learn how to build them and fix them and stuff, but I can't afford to go back to school to take the classes...

Oh, I am completely technically challenged!!! LMAO, I know very sad, and I have known more about computers than my hubby and sometmes he will do something on there and I will be like....oh how did you do that?...LOL I surprise myself really when I get through things on the computer, like I did a survey today and it told me to enable cookies, sure sounds easy, and I managed, but at first I was like, oh no..not going to be able to do this...LOL so I know enough to get by...

I know what you mean. Sometimes I cant stop the pride I feel at having figured out something on my own while using the computer. Goes to show I guess that we do have the potential to do well with the right guidance.

I'm not that computer savvy nor does have a technical knowledge that is so deep. I have friends who are programmers, and they really are good at the technical side. As for me, I just know how to use the internet, just the basic knowledge. But then again it's nice if everyone can increase their knowledge in computers. I believe there are also tutorials from the internet that we can learn from. Thanks for the question, tjades!

Im really not that savvy with computers. But i think i know enough to get it to do what i want it to do and i think that is enough for me. I think im much more knowledgeable with it as compared to other people in my workplace but im not a genius at it. When it comes to gadgets i try my best to stay updated with the latest ones just to be aware is enough and i dont really need to buy it to be updated. Well, im not that savvy but i think i could operate things and figure out how gadgets work without the need to read the whole manual, and i think thats also the same with other people. Its just like you have this initiative on what buttons to press to make that gadget work.

It feels good not to be the least knowedgable doesnt it. It certainly feels that way to me when I have to assist others just like I was assisted. I find that the more I share my little knowledge the more I learn. Thanks for sharing jewilim.

Hi there, Well, it's rather hard to type with these paws of mine. However, I consider myself to be quite computer savvy! There's not a lot I haven't torn up so I know how to fix quite a bit. I've never paid for computer help or tech support. I've been computers for over 2 decades. So, yes, there's been tricks I've picked up along the way. Thanks for a great topic! meow & ciao! !^..^!

I wouldn´t say that I am a computer expert but I definately know enough to get by. I, like many people these days have grown up with computers, using them on a daily basis, chatting, shopping, emailing etc etc. I imagine that in the future they will make further advances and I will be left behind. I would like to learn more about the workings of computers, possibly computing programming etc. I would love to invest in all of the latest gadgets but I don´t have enough many, maybe mylot can help me out with that, hehe, Good luck and happy Mylotting!

New developments take place at such a rapid pace that I am bound to get left behind. It is good that you want to keep up with these developments. For me by the time I get used to one feature another pops up on the scene.
