Bread smells so good

What does sourdough bread taste like? I've always been curious. Why was it called sourdough in the first place? I hope you can help me with this...

I bought a bread machine a few weeks ago and have used it just once. The bread came out perfect (whole wheat) and I'll be baking again today or tomorrow. I used to make bread from scratch, but having arthritis in my hands, and living alone makes that kind of a hassle. The bread machine is perfect for me. I've never made sourdough bread, but thanks for the suggestion. I'll probably try it it some day. My next loaf is going to be half whole wheat half white, with some instant oatmeal thrown in. There's not enough of the oatmeal to cook for breakfast, so putting it in the bread is a good way to use it up. I love the smell of fresh bread!

that's my biggest downfall fresh bread and oh yeah sourdough is one of my favorites it is also one bread that is good for you compared to the white processed flour stuff, same stuff they make english muffins out of, yum. i was actually thinking about buying a bread machine but then i would put back on the 80 pounds i lost. so i'll just go to one of those bread company's like alanta bread co. and drool.

I love fresh baked bread. Sounds yummy! My favorite is also sourdough, I really like it toasted with a little butter. I don't have a bread machine and have only made bread from scratch a few times. Right now trying not to eat too much bread as I am trying to lose some weight, well actually more than some. I do love bread though!

I love to cook and like making things from scratch. I would love to learn how to make bread. I love sourdough, but I just don't know how. As soon as i read this I found some cool recipes for home made bread. I just might give them a try. I love the warmth and smell from it as it comes out of the oven. Slathering some butter on it. Gosh, now I am hungry!!
