Okay so I sent in my first submission to an ezine....and held my breath. I have not submitted my work in sooo long. And before it was into the Writer's Digest contest so anyhow I was very nervous in the past for actually submitting to a magazine, ezine, whatever. And guess what they rejected me. And guess what it's okay with me. I survived my first rejection and sure there will be loads more as I get back on the saddle again. One thing I did find was there is an ezine that will publish you if you have five rejection letters....so I will file this as my first one for that LOL How did you feel when you got your first rejection for a piece of work? Did you feel like it was a personal attack/ did you realize it's life?

I havent been rejected yet but thats only because I've not yet submitted anyting to any sites etc...I'm still working on sorting out which sites I think are worthwhile and of course I'm still writing too...I want to have a massive amount of various works to choose from for submission..That may be nutty of me but its how my head works LOL

Everyone has a routine. And now my routine will include with every rejection I go over the piece through and through to make it stronger.

When I got my first rejection letter I was crushed. I didn't think my work was good enough to be published, but then professors and friends told me what they thought and I worked harder at my poetry and started into short stories and I am getting better. I am submitting more and trying not to get discouraged. I also bought the writer's market book to submit to more publications and contests with what I do have to get more feedback.

One thing I know is that everyone has a story, it's how we come about writing it is another thing. And most beginning writers, and I am a clear example of this, has a very hard time finding their voice. And if you cannot find your voice you cannot speak....you see what I am saying? So the way I look at rejections (to take the sting out of the crushing part) is they are allowing me to see where my voice would be better suited. And challenging me to build it in strength. Every writer has doubts. It's like a comedian, we're trying to prove to people we're good enough. Good luck and keep it up.

Personally I have never submitted any of my Work to sites like Ezines, etc. and would not even know how to go about doing so. I have gotten rejected from Associated Content, but would Love to venture out to other paying venues as well as I would Love to be a published author someday myself.

I havent had that many things rejected but on the other hand I have not submitted that many either. I think that you need to carefully consider your market and who you are submitting to before you actually submit a piece. Good LUck on your next one.

What seems important here to me is that you had enough gumption to submit your work to them. So just hang in there, take another look at your work and see how you think you could improve it. Then write some more and get back on the horse. Go for it.

Thanks. A long time ago you would have found me under a rock somewhere and me proclaiming "I will never write again." But in fact it makes me want to write even more. Thanks again.

I never feel rejection is personal,I just accept it pick up and keep it moving. I just look at it like this either they made a mistake and lost something good, or maybe I need to step up my game. Sometimes being rejected can mean you are not doing your best. And that is why if I am rejected I look at my self. Because if I need to check my self and get it together so that I can be the best me then I welcome rejection. It helps me better myself.

I would never see that as a personal attack. When you write, it's always subjective to the reader. That particular reader may have liked another article better. I use rejection to hone my craft. Look it over and see what you could have done better or ask your friends opinions on it. Then if you feel that is the best piece that you have written, file it away and maybe you can find another outlet who will like it and want to publish it. You can never give up because of rejection. Just like every other career in the arts, there is a ton of competition. You'll get there one day!

I don't think I've ever been rejected, of course I just sent some stuff off for a ministry project but I feel good about the outcome. Rejection is a part of life but don't let it stop you.

Actually, I have never been accepted yet but I hope to submit something for the upcoming Writer's Digest contest. I am about 90% sure I will enter in the Children Story category. But that will not be until May.

I was rejected by payperpost once and asked myself what did I do wrong. But they sent an email telling me what to change on my post for it to be ok. Then I did. Rejections are not nice but we have to try to see a good thing even on the bad things that happen to us.

I have never ever got rejected but i know how it feels to be rejected when it is a genuine approach from your side and you have put your heart and mind into it.But you should take the rejection in a positive manner and try to come up with something new and creative which just catches the fancy of people at once.

Hello! Well I'm not a good writer at all, but I felt like trying out this web site that buys articles and my first article got accepted and they paid me $4 for it!! I was so happy, then I kept writing to them, but a couple of the articles I wrote got rejected they told me it was because of bad punctuation, but I fix it and sent it back to them and they accept it. I'm very happy with that site. It's associatedcontent.com if you like to try it. They pay more for better articles. And there's no minimum amount, you can have your money transfer to your paypal account as soon as they make you an offer, also if you don't like the offer you have the option to reject it and take your work somewhere else. Good luck.
