Do you smell things before buying them?

Cat is smelling you - Cats can smell more things than people, they noses are they guides.

I have a caprice to smell almost everything I am buying. I pick tomatoes and before putting them in the shopping basket I smell them do they even smell as tomatoes!? Whenever I buy a soap, I smell them. Bread - need to smell! I don't smell things which have been packed in packages, haven't got success to smell through the cardboard yet:) What about you? What does smell do for you, does it help to choose and make choices in buying things?

Yes, I definitely smell some products before I purchase... particularly anything that will be "on the body" such as soap, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, etc. I like to keep the scents similar and not too strong (because too much of a good thing isn't a good thing LOL). I smell cleaning products too because I don't want an unpleasant scent in the house. I smell laundry detergent, scented candles, air fresheners, even dish soap (not sure why)... and sometimes I smell them just because I'm curious. They have some goofy names for the scents of products sometimes and I just want to get an inkling of why the marketing people choose these things LOL
