Do people in prison get special day on their birthdays?

Last night I watched a movie about women prisoners, guards were unfair to them and all movie was escape from fights with prison's guard and other prisoner women who has became something like bosses over other women. In the movie there was a scene where one woman gives a cigarette to other telling: "I give a cigarette to you because it's your birthday!" It made me think, in real life, do prisoners get a special treat on their birthdays?
