Have you Ever Started A Wave?

Canada
January 29, 2009 3:00pm CST
I was eating my fifty cent bag of chips from the dollar store the other day at work and happened to read the back of the bag... They were talking about doing something to inspire those around you to do something positive! If you go to http://www.startawave.ca/products.html you can read all about the program and some of what others have done to inspire those in their community! Would you like to do something? Do you think that you could? If so, what would you choose? Perhaps you have already done something in the past or are doing something right now...What would that be? Please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences here! We Can Do It! Start A Wave! ~Heavens~

I havent started a wave either at home or in the stadium. It sounds like an interesting concept though and one that I would think about proceeding with. I like to have many differnt things to do and starting a wave is one that positive would be a really good thing to do.

Sorry for responding so late to this great discussion but I haven't been getting very many of my notifications, I have to look for them now.. I think that I would love to start a wave of "Paying it Forward" I watched the movie by the same name, quite a while back, and think it is such a great idea.. Someone does me a favor or shows me an act of kindness, or treats me extra nice, then I pass it on, only to have it passed on again and again.. I would love to see the world getting along and doing for each other like it used to be when I was younger.. The world is expanding and friends and family are living so far away from each other, sometimes even when they are in the same neighborhood, that it is hard to be with people that you know on a personal basis.. But you can Pay it forward to people that you know and people that you don't know, just pass on a good deed and watch the wave grow..

Hi heavens, Wow! Yet another inspiring discussion. Now you're 'two for two.' Again, I wish that more people were 'seeing this.' I'd never heard of the Start A Wave program, but it's definitely worthwhile. As for me, I 'think' you already know that I want this to be my personal 'Year Of Giving Back!' I've wanted this for a very long time, as so many have helped us through very trying times, and in very practical ways. I've 'tried' to do a couple of small things for people in need (so far,) and my prayer is that I'll be able to continue. I'd love to be able to do something much bigger, but I have to start somewhere. I'm really sick of waiting until "My ship comes in," so I feel the need to launch out. I have personally come across many hurting people (who I only know online,) and it's in my heart to support them by listening, and brightening up their lives, however I can manage this. Then there are the offline people I know, who I'd also like to do this for if possible. On a community level, and these are 'just dreams' at the moment, I have a heart for families and individuals living way below the poverty line, and would love to see them fed and clothed. I also have a soft spot for physically and emotionally abused women, as I do personally know at least three in this tragic situation. Finally, I've always wanted to work with the blind, and I'm not even sure what's behind this desire. There are so many worthy causes of course. How about you? What kind of 'A Wave' would you like to start? Great topic! Hugs

I had never heard of this program before either but when I read the chip package I decided I must bring the empty bag home and post about it here. I thought this could be the start of my wave here with this discussion! I know about you wanting to give back and listening to people is a wonderful start! I had no idea about some of the desires that you have mentioned here but it is my prayer that you are able to reach some of these areas in the years to come! As for My Wave besides starting this discussion which I pray that still more people will see...I would really like to promote more awareness and understanding for Autism and the mentally handicapped! I'd also like to see all families in my community not having to worry about food and clothing and paying their bills! ~Heavens~

I see that we share one of the 'same dreams.' If only this dream could be a reality. I'd 'just love' to be able to actually provide groceries for needy families, to begin with, but as you know it's not possible for me now. I'm not talking about the food banks either, but 'some other way,' that I could come up with. Really! As for my other two, way back when I was single, and living in Toronto, I was actually planning on doing some volunteer work. I had the number written down (no internet back then,) etc., and was going to start with the CNIB. The rest, as they say, "is history." It wasn't long after this, that I met my future husband, and my life took a totally different direction. Maybe one day, I can actually take up this cause again. The abused women, and the desire to help them, is borne out of personal contact I've had with 'three families' since I've lived 'here.' It just seems to keep cropping up in my life, and I'd like to make a difference. I 'knew' it would go without saying, that you'd be a champion for the cause of autism, and the mentally challenged doesn't surprise me either. You're quite the expert on autism, etc., so I'm sure you could really make a difference. Often going with what we know is key. This doesn't mean that we can't get involved in unknown (to us) areas though. My desire for the CNIB work, isn't something I can explain. I don't personally know any blind people. My other two causes 'are quite obvious,' as to what's behind those desires of mine. I hope your day is going okay, and that your cold is better soon. Hugs

I knew it would not surprise you....Special children have always had a special place in my heart and helping them to learn has always been my passion...Giving them the utmost highest quality of life possible! What I would really like to do is combine "Normal" Children with "Special" Children in a program where they are able to befriend each other and develop an understanding of each others needs! Much better than the segregation of small classrooms and special camps and sports teams etc!!!! That would be my perfect world where everyone and I mean everyone lived together and co operated in understanding and happiness no matter what our needs!! Praying For A Perfect World ~Heavens~
