Thare are so many people who are very proud of their countries and I do the same. I'd been writing and saying about the beautiful Philippines. The tourist spots, the perfect cone volcanoes, the beautiful beaches, wonderful falls, the hot springs, the hundred islands, the famous cities of Cebu, Davao, the scenic summer capital, Baguio, the beautiful Tagaytay, Batangas, Palawan and so many others. My biggest disappointment is I've never gone to these places except for Baguio and Tagaytay. How I wish I could have all the possible resources for me to reach and see these beautiful places, I'd been very proud of. How about you friends do you have any disappointment when it comes to your country?

Hi Bing, I love the Philippines! Like you, it is also my ultimate goal to travel all over the country. I've been to some places like Bagui City (where we celebrate our 9th Wedding Anniversary last year with our twin daughters), Tagaytay, Davao (I love Davao! Once I got there, I don't want to go back to Manila), Bicol, et al. My sisters always plan to go to Hong Kong, Singapore, et. al. and advise me to bring my kids whenever I have time but I often refuse. I tell her that if we're going to have family week, it's gonna be within the country and not outside the country. This year, we are planning to celebrate our 10th year with the kids in Puerto Galera! And we are all so excited!!! Okay...I'm being carried over already. Going back to your discussion, these are few things I hate about our country: 1. Men peeing everywhere!!! 2. Lack of security in the malls. We are not that preventive about possible bomb explosions, theft and other threats. 3. Some (this is from my general observation) treat foreigners as if these were gods! While I'm the next in line and will receive treatment completely the opposite from the same customer service rep (or bagger, or waiter, or cashier). I mean...we should treat all people equally, not just being kinder or more polite to foreigners. 4. Corrupt Government - pointing fingers to everyone except to them about the problems in the country. 5. Government not exploring the wealth of our country, like the BIO DIESEL, our own manpower, et. al. We need to be discovered by other rich countries before we can be recognized locally.

I have heard before about Phillipines being a great tourist place and also have seen its pictures on internet. I agree there are some places in many countries i would like to visit but due to the lack of good transport or even no transport for many days or weeks stops you from thinking to go to that place. This often is due to high mountains, hills that come on the way and its hard to develop raods, bridges there. In my country, too there are some of the worlds best tourist places that i have never seen just becasue there isn't frequent transport or very little frequency of transport to that place

Oh yes, transportation is available only that you have to spend much in order to reach these places. If your fund is limited you will set aside going to these beautiful spots first. You'll reach these maybe by chance. thnks for the response...

hehe, better think of the positive things, as will make us smile rather than those who would make us frown. Exactly before seeing others, seeing ours first. thanks lilyoungfella for the response.

my biggest disappointment with my country is those greedy politician who are just sinister enough for their fellow countrymen. they are rich already with position and fame to hold onto and yes majority of the politicians here in the country are indeed rich, MILLIONAIRE to be exact. just think of the election budget they are putting on for running in office. they are greedy...sacrificing necessary funds that are allocated for those who are in needs. to get to the point..."CORRUPTION" is what disappoint me the most here in our country and nothing else. DAMN THEM!

I'm also proud of our country because it has beautiful tourist spots. but the problem with our country is our government officials. i hope one of these days, they'll realize that the money they are taking from us and keeping for themselves can really help feed the Deprived, marginalized or poor people of the Philippines. The money can help in the construction of school and commercial buildings, which can provide a lot of job for our fellow Filipinos.

Oh yes maybe on the coming election will be intelligent enough to vote those whom we think desirables. You know, however we can only speak for ourselves, we must vote the head of state that could show the best example to his lower officials. It's a consolation however for them beautifying the Philippines, the best they can do.

Although I have great disappointment in my city, but I am proud of my country. My country is China, we have a fast development in these several years, this year, there was a earthquake in the Sichuan province, everyone did their best to help others. In this moment ,all of us can feel the love of our country. In terms of mine,no matter what kind of your attitude towards your country, please don't forget your root.

Were I am with you on this one. I also am proud to have these beautiful spots in our country but sadly enough I am not able to afford to be in these places because of the cost of getting there is really targetted towards foreigners that could afford them. That is why sometimes i amy say I am a stranger in my own place since I could not even get to the places that many foreigners could easily get to.

Oh yes, same here, we can't afford to see our own beautiful spots but hope we can reach them before we grow old where we can still appreciate the beauty and comfort they bring.

I do not know your situation as far as your family or money and so forth. I our country there are cheap ways to travel. So really there is no reason not to visit places in my country. But my biggest disappointment about my country is it's inability to take into consideration the culture, the way of life in countries that we go into. You would think that with my country being so diversified that we would be better able to relate to other cultures around the world. But it appears that my country seems to be insensitive to the sovereignty of others. Case in point, when females were stationed in Saudi Arabia there was a big thing about how some woman solider refusing to go into town wearing a burka. What they failed to realize was that they were in a different country and that they should respect there ways and culture and not impose there own on that country. There was a great opportunity to better our relationship with these countries but we failed And continue to fail!

I am very proud of my country Philippines, for me this is the only country I can proudly call "home". I have no plan to work abroad because I don't want to be discriminated by bully foreigners and I don't want to endure the humiliation and mockery of foreigners who treated Filipinos as if we are slaved. After all, the way of living here is not really worst as some people claimed. I think the condition of living in other countries are much worst compared to us because they are the one most affected by the recession. I also plan to travel around the country, I already gone to Cebu, Baguio City and Manila. I am living now in Davao and I came from Surigao, hopefully I can see other beautiful spots of our land.

You're much luckier you've gone to Cebu and now living in Davao...I'm from Bicol, so am very proud too of our Mayon Volcano and other lakes there, I was supposed to go to Cebu as an incentive when I was still at Tupperware but I was conceiving then so I failed to. My father in law is from Surigao, my mother in law is from Bohol but they had passed away already including my husband so we don't have the chance to reach those places now. There are foreigners who do appreciate us filipinos and our beautiful Philippines as well. There are some however that dicriminate us, as you've said. If given a chance I want to see places abroad too but before doing that I must see beautiful places in the Philippines first. Thanks jlamela for your response.

Ha!Ha!Ha! We got the same issue here. Not only the tourists spots, I also love to see the unexplored destinations. I am already plotting places to visit because I am planning to tour around the country someday. I will start from my mom and dad's place of Mountain Province up to southernmost part of Tawi-tawi.

Try saving some money specifically for travel. Then you can organize your friends to a group travel. It would be cheaper and more fun!

that's a very nice idea but with the present financial situation there are other priorities, however there are chances also of visiting some places joining sales companies when luckily you won trips to such spots as your incentive or their kind enough to treat their sales people for planning sessions to those places.

Well everybody had a problem with the US. the economy is bad and there are no jobs im mad cause i can hardly support my family. Im having to get help from the state and it upsets me. My wife tries to support my decisions on matters but its just hard. I cant wait for the economy to get better. I believe that things will get better tho.

You are very much ahead compared to other countries, I believe the economic problem at U.S. is temporary. You're not just used to it that's why seemed to be a very big impact to the people. With your modern technologies, new inventions, enough resources, better heads and faith in God, for sure you'll soon recover. Sometimes we have to experience hardships before having the true comfort and wealthy living. One thing we have to thank for, we are in good health. Remember health is wealth. Thanks Alexh for the response.
