Most Laptop PCs can stay on with fully charges battery for more than 2 hours. Yet, i see some people having thier Laptop connected wiht charger at all the times , no matter they are sitting on bed and using it or travelling in train and using it, they take the charger with them all the time to keep it connected with laptop. I dont see it really good practice otherwise what was the purpose of having laptop when it can not become 100% portable. How often you keep your laptop charger connected to it? Do you take charger along Laptop all the times when you are travelling, etc?

I used to keep my laptop plugged in all the time. I could sit or lay on the couch with it still being plugged in. Then my son told me that it was bad on the batteries, that they needed to discharge. Now I try to keep off the charger when I'm not using it and sometimes when I am. My screen does become a little less bright but not troublesome enough to stop me from using my laptop.

It depends. When I am using my laptop and I have an outlet available, I plug it to keep my battery from draining. But I never connect my charger to my laptop when my laptop is off and my battery is full. I think this will overcharge the battery in the long run and will shorten its life.

If I use my laptop without being connected with its charger than the screen is dull. I would hardly be able to see the site that I wished to look at. Plugging it into the power would be similar to going into a dimly lit room and then turning the light on. I sometimes unplug my laptop and take it upstairs to print something. I can just about get by with the dull screen for a little while. If I sit in bed using my laptop I plug it in upstairs. When I travel somewhere with my laptop I plug it in.

Hi user_786. I prefer to use my laptop without a charger connecting into it. Of course I bring my laptop charger if I am on travel just in case I will stay longer outside and might run out of battery. As much as possible I use my laptop not connecting to its charger. I just use my laptop charger when my battery is about to be empty.

interesting. It appears the power consumption is negligible when a laptop is turned off and the battery is full. Perhaps some users are preparing for situations where there will be no AC and laptop has to be used. just a thought.
