Drinking vs Smoking

The ban on smoking in public places, which i agree with, pubs excluded though. i was just replying to a post on this where the postie was complaining about smokers damaging those who don't smoke etc and i was thinking to myself, am i really in more danger from someone smoking in a pub than i am someone drinking?? The answer has to be, of course i'm not! If there was no ban on smoking in pubs and bars, and like me your a non smoker, and you make the choice to go to the pub still, then your going there knowing full well your gonna get a lung full. Same as now, you go into the pub knowing full well you quite likely to meet someone who's had too much to drink and is quite possibly going to cause trouble, police, ambulances fire service and hospital time is mostly made up of drunks and accidents caused through alcohol over the weekend, that can't be said for smoking, even the statistics will prove that alcohol wastes the government more money than smoking, and hospitals treat more drink related illness and accidents than they do smokers, so is smoking in pubs really a big issue, talk me through your views on this...
