With SWATTERS? http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/6228243.aspx the 911 emergency system is reportedly being abused by use of internet telephony..Skype and other Internet telephony systems remind users not to rely on them as a primary service,as in an emergency,it's not possible for 911 to quickly work out where you're calling from ,say if you were able to call but not speak .. Certain abusers have made calls claiming hostage situations, shootings, etc are taking place in other places..as a result,SWAT teams are being dispatched to addresses where nothing of the sort is happening..the setups are apparently being made by people with a grudge against the victim,or even as a prank against a random individual..IMO,it's only a matter of time before someone gets injured or killed by these actions, either through A householder or officer getting shot or attacked while defending themselves..Just a thought..Don't 911 record details of calls made to them? Don't they pass on these details given to authorities so that things can be checked out before SWAT officers get involved? seems as though a simple call to the target address could avert the issue?
